A revealingly honest presentation of not only what it means to be an immigrant but a so called minority presence in the USA. Revived many memories and feelings long hidden away. Maria has given a much needed voice to the constant need of defending our own existence as equals. Will it ever improve? This writing is certainly a right on point presentation.

Love the plain spoken words which Maxie used to tell her story. I was caught by the sincerity and the reality of her journey. Her words rang true as I saw her family struggles and how her spirit evolved. Perhaps it’s because I admire her straightforward words each time I hear her speak. She doesn’t hold her punches and tells it like it is. That’s what I heard in her reading. Truly enjoyed it.

Fantastic Read!

Not really knowing what to expect the beginning of the story was a little doubtful. Before I knew it the words swept me up and I found it hard to put the book away. The storyline was fantastic transferring from one book to the other. The weaving of the characters was faultless and played well into the storyline.
Despite being an avid reader (listener), this is the first time I’ve ever written a review on a story. This is truly a fantastic read! Can’t wait to get more of JA Andrews’ writings!
