Historia
Goodness, I have no idea what I'm doing. I’m a virgin attempting to write a romance novel and I'm having an impossible time trying to write a passionate and swoon-worthy love scene worthy of being published, thanks to my lack of experience...This is the story of my awkward, humiliating, and slightly terrifying life, but like all romance novels, I know it will end in a happily ever after. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I Honestly Couldn't Finish This
Revisado: 06-27-21
I don't write reviews often, but I had to for this one. It was a good premise, but the execution was terrible. The "friends" trying to help the MC came across as mean and uncaring. Trying to make her feel bad for being a virgin. Making fun of someone for being ignorant about sex isn't kind, especially how they went about it. I couldn't get past the waxing scene. The goal was a funny scene...all I got was unprofessional abuse.
I'm all for people exploring their sexuality, but pushing and pressuring people like this is unconscionable.

Historia
It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever.

A New Addition to My Favorites List
Revisado: 08-07-18
Nora Roberts totally killed it with this book. Ms. LaVoy was a terrific narrator, and did such an amazing job with the different emotions and characters. For years, I have absolutely adored The Witness, and as other reviewers mentioned, Shelter In Place is very reminiscent of that style of writing. Roberts has a wide range of styles that she can write in, and some of her books are less appealing than others to me. The Witness is one that I have listened to at least five or six times since I purchased it. I have no doubt that this book will be very similarly used in my library.
I have always enjoyed it when I find a brilliant story told by a great author that has partnered with the perfect narrator. There are some series that I love enough to keep listening to, time after time, despite their narrators making my brain hurt with their less than stellar work. I did not have that problem at all with this book.
Shelter In Place is by far one of Nora's best books, and I look forward to reading more like this one. Do yourself a favor -- get this book!

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Wow....
Revisado: 11-17-16
This book was the funniest, most honest, most thought provoking biography I have ever read. Trevor Noah writes beautifully, and since he is narrating you really get exactly what he meant when he wrote the book.
I would sincerely recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story; great lessons from a man who has succeeded despite all the odds.
Trevor Noah, you are an inspiration.

Historia
Ted Kerasote met and adopted Merle, a Labrador mix, while he was on a camping trip. Merle had been living in the wild, and after taking the dog home with him to Wyoming, Kerasote soon realized that Merle could not adjust to inhabiting exclusively the human world. So he put a door in his house to let Merle live both outside and in. A deeply touching portrait of a remarkable animal, Merle's Door explores the issues that all animals and their human companions face.

Revisado: 09-13-15
I didn't expect what I found in this book. Though I don't particularly like this gutted feeling I have, the story was beautiful, and well written.
I have shed quite a few tears over Merle, and I feel that Ted has given the world a gift, for surely the emotions wrenched out by this book ought to be felt the world over.
So much love and life shared. I'm starting to cry again already.
Don't miss this fantastic tale of love, loss, and a journey to peace.

Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Humorous and Thought-Provoking
Revisado: 01-26-15
I love how this story weaved in so much world history, fitting it rather perfectly into this old man's life. Witty and very well done.
