Historia
After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom.

I really love the book, the wrong pronunciation of toranags it should be pronounced, stressing the third syllable, and not the American way. But if you pronounce it the German way, it’s just glorious.

Historia
In a not-too-distant future that is not quite ours, there has been a major scientific breakthrough. It is a way to open windows into the past, permitting historical researchers to view, but not participate, in the events of the past.
In one of the most powerful and thought-provoking novels of his remarkable career, Orson Scott Card interweaves a compelling portrait of Christopher Columbus with the story of a future scientist who believes she can alter human history from a tragedy of bloodshed and brutality to a world filled with hope and healing.

A little too woke for my taste
Revisado: 05-30-23
The story is too involved in virtue signaling and full of well intentioned idealist. I would have liked to see a little humbleness that showed that regardless of what outcome one picks there are always trade-offs

Does your workplace have too few Black people in top jobs? It’s racist. Does the advanced math and science high school in your city have too many Asians? It’s racist. Does your local museum employ too many White women? It’s racist, too. After the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, prestigious American institutions, from the medical profession to the fine arts, pleaded guilty to “systemic racism”.

, the author clearly shows the cultural revolution going on in America right now, as well as the underlying Maoistic cultural pattern

Historia
For over a decade, philosopher and energy expert Alex Epstein has predicted that any negative impacts of fossil fuel use on our climate will be outweighed by the unique benefits of fossil fuels to human flourishing--including their unrivaled ability to provide low-cost, reliable energy to billions of people around the world, especially the world’s poorest people. And contrary to what we hear from media “experts” about today’s “renewable revolution” and “climate emergency,” reality has proven Epstein right.

Finally “the other side” and a novel approach
Revisado: 05-19-23
As most people will probably already have experience the religion like climate dogma, it is really nice to see a different approach to argue for a human flourishing centered argument. This is not so much about the climate science, but about the underlying philosophical beliefs.

A little too close to home
Revisado: 04-22-23
Some of the references might be out of date a little, but otherwise, it’s still a bull’s-eye. In a lot of ways, I was hoping for some thing that was closer to the showtime show, instead of some thing that might actually be an actual description of consulting.

Really only meh
Revisado: 04-13-23
Oh, I would have expected a lot more data driven analysis, but it what we instead got was in a pseudo, psychological ramblings, that are way too in love with their proposed mental battle, then with reality or science. Feels a little bit like the work of a profiler for history.

Revisado: 04-08-23
What became clear, is that conviction and good management while in a political office is really the secret to success for the person as well as the states that are being governed that way, I can only hope that this is going to be the fate for all of America

Historia
Who is killing America? Is it really Donald Trump and a GOP filled with white supremacists? In this audiobook, Dinesh D’Souza makes the provocative case that Democrats are the ones killing America by turning it into a massive nanny state modeled on the Southern plantation system. Death of a Nation's bracing alternative vision of American history explains the Democratic Party's dark past, reinterprets the roles of figures like Van Buren, FDR, and LBJ, and exposes the hidden truth that racism comes not from Trump or the conservative right but rather from Democrats.
