Historia
Lacy Marie Crocker can hardly believe it's been a year since her return home to New Orleans. There hasn't been a dull moment since opening her pet boutique last summer, and thanks to the popularity of Lacy's organic pet treats and the arrival of the National Pet Pageant, Lacy desperately needs some help before she is overrun by the demand for pupcakes and crinolines. Everything is going spectacularly until Viktor Petrov, the pageant emcee, takes a spill from the balcony during dress rehearsal.

4 book series review
Revisado: 09-17-22
This is a fairly good 4 book series. However, I wish the author would use her imagination a little more. Each book is like a cookie cutter of the previous ones. There's a murder, the heroine gets involved, and the bad guy/gal threatens her if she doesn't back off. A little variety would be nice. The narrator does a wonderful job. It's an easy listen so I'd say go for it. Just be aware they're all somewhat repetitive.

Series is just okay
Revisado: 09-07-20
This review is actually for the first three books in the series. They were offered free, so I did listen to all three books. I listened while doing other things, because I didn’t care if I missed parts, and I fast forwarded through much of it. The books seem to be written for teens or young adults. The characters’ conversations are very juvenile. The first book was the best one, because the two main characters weren’t romantically involved. Once they were, their unconsummated sex life was constant. Not explicit descriptions, for the most part, just constant and boring. Also, the female lead character was the most unlikable character I’ve encountered in any book in a long time. She was arrogant, stubborn, and when one very bad thing happened, she managed to make it about her. Very self centered. I would definitely not recommend the series. If there are other books in the series that are offered for free, I’ll be skipping them.

Pretty unbelievable
Revisado: 07-26-20
I enjoyed the story somewhat, but find it unbelievable. I had to listen to it as If it was in the fantasy genre. Also, the naïveté of the main female character is simply disgusting. Hard to believe anyone could be so ignorant of the life she was part of. I disliked her so much that I couldn’t feel sympathy for her plight. I can not recommend.

Be aware this is not Book 4 of the series
Revisado: 08-20-19
At the end of Book 3, Calamity, this was described as Book 4 of the series. I bought it, based on that. This book does not continue the story. It’s simply a short story with some of the characters, and it takes place in time before Book 4. What a disappointment!

Terrible narration!
Revisado: 06-23-18
I still love this series but unless the narrator is changed, I won’t be buying any other books in it. Dick Hill has a great ability to do many different voices. However, he did a terrible terrible job with the majority in this and book two. The southern voices were so over exaggerated as to be comical. He screamed, he whined. This was one of the worse narrations I have heard. I have listened to other books narrated by Mr. Hill, and he usually does a decent job, so I’m really surprised by this. My suggestion...read, don’t listen, to any books in this series that are narrated by him.

Don't waste your credit
Revisado: 02-24-18
This is one of the worse books I ever tried to listen to. There was very little story. Most of it was describing the attraction between the two female lead characters, with the actual story thrown in occasionally. If it had just been an occasional explicit sex scene, I could have fast forwarded through them. That's what I usually do. Yeah, I guess I'm a prude. But if you do like those scenes, you'll still be disappointed. Just on and on and on, describing each one's thoughts about how sexy the other was. I was wishing they'd go ahead and get to it, so I could fast forward and get to an actual storyline. I tried to hang in there but gave up about two thirds through.

Excellent story except for....
Revisado: 11-08-17
I loved the story for the most part. It never got slow or boring. The characters were interesting. I would recommend this book highly. So, why only four stars, you might ask. The author paints certain groups of people with one stroke, which irritated me. All of those people are crooked; all of these people are ignorant, the author seems to think. I like to think there are good and bad people in any group. I won't be specific. if you read it, you can see what I mean. If you don't see it, you can chalk it up to my own biases. You will have enjoyed a great book, in any case.

Could be even better
Revisado: 07-04-17
It's amazing the imagination the author has. All the books have been great, and LONG. It's not often that a series can change narrators in each book, and all be okay. Having said that, there is one thing that kept this from being five stars. In the first couple of books, the main female character's name was pronounced Kaylin by the narrator. In this one, I heard it pronounced Kollin, Kullin, and Cowlin, but never Kaylin. I hope they go back to Kaylin from now on, but at least pick something and stick with it. I do recommend the series though.
