Smoke Bellew
Revisado: 12-31-24
True to Zane Grey’s Utah with redemption and love - Smoke finds himself on a Mormon outpost in need of a hard working man. I like the humor in this first story.

Historia
It's one of the most revered movies of Hollywood's golden era. Starring screen legend Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly in her first significant film role, High Noon was shot on a lean budget over just 32 days but achieved instant box-office and critical success. It won four Academy Awards in 1953, including a best actor win for Cooper. And it became a cultural touchstone, often cited by politicians as a favourite film, celebrating moral fortitude.

Revisado: 03-14-23
I met Glen at a screening of The Searchers - the greatest western ever made. Unknown to most there are snippets of true stories in The Searchers and Glen's book explains it all. The "High Noon Book" by Glen also has inside info. Amazing research that shows the interest.

But there are bad men and a major score waiting for Jack in Motown. And the next time his path crosses Karen's, chances are she's going to be there for business, not pleasure.

Historia
Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Violence extreme. Cormac McCarthy weaves another tale of man's inhumanity to man.
It's a good chapter of his brand of lawlessness.

Historia
Clement Mansell knows how easy it is to get away with murder. The seriously crazed killer is already back on the Detroit streets - thanks to some nifty courtroom moves by his crafty looker of a lawyer - and he's feeling invincible enough to execute a crooked Motown judge on a whim. Homicide Detective Raymond Cruz thinks the "Oklahoma Wildman" crossed the line long before this latest outrage, and he's determined to see that the hayseed psycho does not slip through the legal system's loopholes a second time.

There's no debating Elmore Leonards prowess with gritty reality and twisted plots. With Frank Muller at the mic I'm finding a prefect match.

A great story read by the best, Frank Muller
Revisado: 02-07-22
This is a great tale of tragedy and redemption worthy of a film production.
The ending was unexpected and not in keeping with the forward motion of the story.
I loved in however and recommend it. Frank Muller is the only Voice Actor Narrator who amazes with charter interpretations.
I search for books based on Muller's voice acting.

Not the movie Not even close
Revisado: 11-21-21
The hit movie which had many memorable scenes and great performances was done very well.
This book however has nothing to do with the movie. There's no drunken sheriff/uncle to welcome him at the stage etc. In the movie he's not coming from prison etc.
I can love a different story than expected but I was disappointed in the "reading" of the book. It was not performed so much as read.

I didn’t want this book to end.
Revisado: 06-17-21
Only the best western writer, McMurtry’s story telling is unparalleled as is his command of the dialogue spoken. I listened to several passages more than once. First in awe and second with a big grin. The narrator, Frank Muller might have been the only man for the job. He magically brought each character to life in its own way. I was absorbed completely and now look forward to more from both the author and the narrator.
