Historia
Inextricably linked with the fatwa called against its author in the wake of the novel’s publication, The Satanic Verses is, beyond that, a rich showcase for Salman Rushdie’s comic sensibilities, cultural observations, and unparalleled mastery of language. The book begins with two Indians plummeting from the sky after the explosion of their airliner, and proceeds through a series of metamorphoses, dreams and revelations.

A bizarre imaginative novel
Revisado: 01-27-25
I was curious what this was all about as i think we all know about the controversy surrounding his Mahound "prophet" writing but I was amazed with all the outlandish supposed happenings. Such as those Indian gentlemen who fell from the stratosphere when the airliner blew up. Also that butterfly Haj, the lady with the fallen arches who climbed to the very top of Mount Everest and the temporary mutations of those airliner survivors into a goatlike being and an archangel with a halo. He is obviously gifted in crafting verbal exchanges in the manner of those from India and inserting topics such as American popular tv series.
It provided me with many hours of bizarre Entertainment.

Historia
Nearly fifty years into IBM’s existence, Thomas Watson Jr. undertook the biggest gamble in business history when he “bet the farm” on the creation of the IBM System/360, the world’s first fully integrated and compatible mainframe computer. As CEO, Watson drove a revolution no other company—then or now—would dare, laying the foundation for the digital age that has transformed every society, corporation, and government. The story of Watson being “present at the creation” of the digital age is intertwined with near-Shakespearean personal drama

T J Watson, his sons and family have feet of clay
Revisado: 01-15-25
I joined IBM in the Military Products Division in Kingston, NY in 1956 following Tom Watson's death in 1956. I was always amazed that the IBM Corporation seized the initiative at the time to prepare for future growth by adding a zero to my employee serial number. I really knew nothing of T J or his sons and this book really educated me on the obvious fact that they as well as all of us have clay feet and dealt with family issues and personal failings and dangerous or destructive interests. . It is informative that his advocacy of world peace through world trade fared no better than the current sanctions and tariffs!
I was impressed that the authors were impressed with the Kingston product line of the SAGE AN/FSQ-7 and 8 based on the MIT Whirlwind I that I was hired to learn in a 9-month training course at the Neighborhood Road production factory.
It is worthwhile note that SDC began as the systems engineering group for the SAGE air-defense system at the RAND Corporation. In April 1955, the government contracted with RAND to help write software for the SAGE project. (A somewhat stifling feature is that the octal program numbering system for the SAGE computer had a positive and negative zero which resulted in some confusion in programming Numerics.)
I had assignments in installations at Topsham, Maine; Madison, Wisconsin and Tacoma, Washington. In 1962 IBM support ended when USAF blue suits assumed the functions and I returned to Kingston with a hardware support assignment for final systems testing of the IBM 7040/44 production there. Upon the announcement of the IBM System/360 production switched to the 360/65 and 360/75 which now used hexadecimal support (interesting that the later personal computers used the little-endian order of computer memory storage whereas these large computers always use the big-endian arrangement.)
I achieved the 25-year Quarter Century recognition with the accompanying awards and completed 35 years with many Dallas/ Fort Worth, Texas assignments in Field Engineering support (including a time in the Johnson Space Center mission control where Federal Systems Division managed) DOS/VSE and IBM Marketing software support. Appropriate retirement in 1991 with the Voluntary Transition Program was accepted.

Engrossing and informative novel about nuclear.
Revisado: 04-30-24
Riveting novel that is inspired by actual Soviet nuclear activities that resulted in the banning of atmospheric testing. There are several murders in the privileged development city and of course many entertaining struggles and official festivities.
Puzzled how that tiny sample of radioactive material could be easily handled to be added to tea and had a short half-life or radiation but the vomit in the apartment remained lethal?

Historia

This novel will prompt you to learn about TEUs
Revisado: 12-25-22
his is an unbelievably action-packed imaginative continuation of the series with a revelation into the apparent hierarchy of the handlers for the crime-fighting duo who are determined to fight the crime and evil situations they encounter; however, it seems they are disillusioned by the inability to be the masters of their own fate and discover that the upper echelon are devious and unimaginably cruel and immune to reason and influence. There is no alternative but to effectively resign the arrangement but encounter cruel and lethal resistance. It is amazing that they are able to cope and I have no concept of what the new arrangements will allow to develop.
I am aware that transoceanic, railroad and trucking shipping containers are pervasive in international and domestic shipping but I did not know that TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) and FEU (Fifty-foot Equivalent Unit) shipping standards are in effect. This novel prompted me to investigate and educate myself on this subject which I did not know to question.

Historia
Raya Parker, the 14-year-old daughter of a senior US black-ops official, has vanished along the trail to Everest. Also unaccounted for are one of the loyal bodyguards assigned to protect her and an unassuming Nepali porter. After a prolonged wait for their first contracted assignment, Jason King and Will Slater touch down in Nepal. They’re not exactly thrilled by the task - they assume it’s a routine opportunistic kidnapping. But Raya’s father, Aidan, has done brilliant work for his country, and if his family is at risk, he deserves the best.

Revisado: 12-15-22
Wow, unbelievable action and entertainment from this imaginative novel that is beyond belief in the concepts of corrupt business practices, terrorism politicians who are obvious sociopaths.
I have never been to Mount 🗻 everest and the description of the efforts and physical effects to the bodies underscores my aversion to such a concept of traveling to napal.

Historia
On a daring nighttime raid in September 2009, a team of Navy SEALs grabbed the notorious terrorist Ahmed Hashim Abed, the villainous "Butcher of Fallujah," the mastermind behind the 2004 murder and mutilation off our American contractors. In this no-holds-barred account, bestselling author Patrick Robinson reveals for the first time the entire story, from the night the SEALs stormed the al-Qaeda desert stronghold to the accusations and legaltwists and turns that followed to the cut-and-thrust drama in the court room where the fate of three American heroes hung in the balance.

Honor and Dishonor!
Revisado: 11-29-22
The book title Honor and Betrayal is incorrect in my opinion as there was nothing betrayed but there was Honor and Dishonor from the false accusations for the honorable seals from Master at Arms Brian Westinson. The ‘Butcher of Fallujah’ Ahmad Hashim Abd Al-Isawi (“Hashim”) followed the al Qaeda training guide known as the “Manchester Manual” (after the English city where a copy of it was discovered) advises, detainees should “always complain of mistreatment or torture while in prison.”
General Cleveland pursued ruthlessley the hidden motivation was, of course, the prison located 18 miles from where the camp where Al-Isawi was detained: Abu Ghraib, and all of the opportunism and hysteria that those words bring to mind. Commanders were “neurotic” about Abu Ghraib. I judge it inconceivable that that General was promoted to much higher command.
The charged Navy Seals were subjected to several lie-detector sessions but of course neither Westinson nor of course Al-Isawi were tested.
This is a really depressing account of the mistreatment of the falsely accused Navy Seals and the resulting Court Martials results with of course the lasting effects on the careers of the falsely accused Navy Seals.

Secular historical fiction novel imagining a trio
Revisado: 09-03-22
This is an entertaining novel that imagines the secular milieu of the risque activities of several unique characters who jumped off a train in Arizona and manage to exist and thrive in the silent screen era of Hollywood. They encounter imaginative situations which range from destitute to degrading excess but somehow seem to succeed.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Incredible WWII true story about 🇩🇪 and 🇺🇸.
Revisado: 08-11-22
This is an incredible WWII true story about an American pilot and his crew that survived a bomber plane that was damaged and had no chance of flying from Germany back to their field in England and an air ace German pilot who details many of his missions during the war and following the end. An astonishing meeting with many of the airmen and their families is also detailed.
I was impressed with the resilience of the description of so many of the German airmen along with their resistance to joining the Nazi party and the tremendous severe treatment by Goering who is detailed as a sociopath. I marvel at the political opportunities for such as Goebel, Hitler, Putin, and others in governments and offices of incredible power and authority!

An outstanding imaginative continuation!
Revisado: 07-30-22
This series is a great continuing action filled entertainment; however I think it would be necessary to read the prior selection in order to fully understand the meaning of some content.
I have been to Abu Dabi, been in awe of the Burgh Khalifa and even taken advantage of the elevator to the viewing room near the top, enjoyed high tea in the opulent Burgh AL Arab so the events in Dubai were very interesting to me. I understand the night club in the Fairmont has been closed.
The authors are very imaginative in the outcome of the successor to the terrorist leadership and I look forward to the next installment!
