Kim could tell at a glance Angel wasn't the average attractive yet poorly disguised extraterrestrial scout sent to assess Earth's defenses before the inevitable alien invasion. Angel's memory loss cover story? Lame. Robbing a passing ruffian of his shirt to cover her naked body? NOT a good way to avoid attracting attention! As a science fiction geek, Kim felt herself uniquely qualified to watch Angel and thwart her dark mission...once the alien got around to it.

Good idea, very poorly written story

It could have been so much better

First of all, I’d like to say I enjoy the premise, the narrator was phenomenal (admittedly it took me a chapter to warm to her) and it was downright funny. Good lesbian sci-fi romance.
What bothered me was the repetition. The consistency of phrases and thoughts that made me wonder if the author actually had anyone editing it because it was as exhausting as being inside of the protagonist’s head. And there are character flaws and then there are just characters that remind you of nails dragging on chalkboard. That is Kim. That’s all I’m saying on that.
I did however love Angel and it definitely had potential.

Amazing Listen

The story was a little dull to follow at first, but got progressively better before I was engrossed. An easy listen that I finished on train rides. If there’s another in the works, I can’t wait to follow along the adventures.
The narrator seemed to struggle to find her footing as well, but when she did, it was with gusto. I loved the varying tones, and shifts in personality.

The book was a pleasure

But honestly, I struggled to adjust to the narrator's voice. It was very high pitched and reminiscent of a twelve year old reading something they shouldn't, while attempting to sound sexy. Understandably they wanted someone who sounded like a teenager, but it was a little much.

Better than I expected

The story itself seemed to, at times, struggle to find its footing, but the narrators were bloody brilliant and gave each character a unique voice and perspective. All in all engaging and suspenseful.
