Historia
The beat of the music was thumping and vibrating in her skull. It was getting harder to walk straight, and he offered to take her back to her room. She should have said no. When she woke up, she didn’t remember much. All she knew was that her life would never be the same again. Ferris Hall was mutilated and left to bleed to death in his Valencia, California, motel room.

Overall enjoyable but....
Revisado: 02-10-22
I am really enjoying this series but some of the relationship stuff just seems ridiculous. If the woman you're sleeping with is accused of murder and she makes her one phone call to her FBI coworker instead of you, regardless of their past, and you throw a hissy fit there's something wrong with you. Are people really this petty and self absorbed?! I don't know but all this jealousy nonsense in the middle of something so serious really grates on my nerves.

Historia
From a master of suspense comes a chilling novel that explores the dangers lurking closer than you think. Because even in the perfect family, you never know what is going on behind closed doors…. This is what happened… It was a case guaranteed to spark a media feeding frenzy—a young mother, blond and pretty, disappears without a trace from her South Boston home, leaving behind her four-year-old daughter as the only witness and her handsome, secretive husband as the prime suspect. In the last six hours…

The only likable character was the cat
Revisado: 02-02-22
I skipped a lot of chapters in this book, it was long and drawn out. DD Warren is unlikable and honestly dumb. The story is unbelievable and odd. I really like Lisa's newer books particularly the Frankie Elkin books, so I'm confused by how bad this book was.

Historia
How did a libertine who lacks even the most basic knowledge of the Christian faith win 81 percent of the white evangelical vote in 2016? And why have white evangelicals become a presidential reprobate's staunchest supporters? Jesus and John Wayne is a sweeping account of the last 75 years of white evangelicalism, showing how American evangelicals have worked for decades to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism.

Interesting
Revisado: 06-09-21
I'm only about half way through but I just had to write this now. I was raised catholic and am agnostic but my church upbringing wasn't cultural or political, it was just religious. As an outsider I have to say this is bizarre but explains a lot. I have literally laughed out loud several times at the masculinity obsession going on in evangelical "religion" some of it is bordering parody to me. The image of Trumps head on Rambos body keeps coming to mind when they talk of this masculine version of Jesus. The whole thing screams insecurity to me, it's as if all of these outside forces threaten their manliness and they need everything from women to culture as a whole to affirm them. It's really sad and honestly kind of pathetic, but I also see the danger of manipulating religion to achieve one's ends. It's been done throughout history obviously and is still being done today. This book certainly helps explain why evangelicals are drawn to Trump, but as with John Wayne he's an actor not a real strong man or hero.

Historia
Everyone in the small town of Denton is searching for Isabelle Coleman, a missing 17-year-old girl. All they've found so far is her phone and another girl they didn't even know was missing. Mute and completely unresponsive to the world around her, it's clear this mysterious girl has been damaged beyond repair. All Detective Josie Quinn can get from her is a name: Ramona. Currently suspended from the force for misconduct, Josie takes matters into her own hands as the name leads her to evidence linking the two girls.

Good story, bad narrator.

Worst narrator I've ever listened to. Like others have said the pronunciation of some of the words was really off and the voice is almost comically squeaky at times. I literally laughed out loud at her pronunciation of yogurt.
