Easily my favorite book in the series so far!
Revisado: 06-15-24
I binged, cried, cheered, and now I'm exhausted!
What an excellent, heart-filling ride l am so glad to have experienced! I still have tears in my eyes.
Omg, thank you, Will Wight, for this book!
Don't get me wrong, I like the first two books. The world, stories, and characters each had them all. But this book pulled me along. No, it was more like I was enjoying the ride. I felt I knew how the road would progress, and I just laid back and relaxed. Then, we took a turn. I wasn't sure where we were going, but nothing was out of place. The scenes were unexpected; there were so many hard turns, but I knew we were on the right path, just not the one I expected. Then, the story pulled me into the passenger seat, and I am now more involved with the story. I was there and involved, cheering and crying. The build kept climbing; I began to worry about my crew. Then the big swell came: action, daring chances, some comedy to lull me, and bam! The big finish. Now, I wait till the next stage unfolds, the next book to bring me back to a home I didn't even know existed.
So, is it worth the credit? Yes, yes, it is.

Great world building
Revisado: 06-10-24
I enjoyed the excellent character development in the book. The pacing was well done, and I appreciate the "gritty" aspect mentioned in the reviews. The only issues I had with the story were necessary for its progression (i.e., “Why does the MC keep pushing this if he is terrified of consequences?”). The primary and side characters are likable and well-developed, but I am worried about their safety. The world-building is impressive. I'm particularly interested in learning more about the central empire in which our main character is based and the "enemy" empire.

However, when destiny takes an unexpected turn, Sen finds himself thrust into the role of a cultivator’s disciple. Chosen over the nobles who once looked down on him, he is adopted into a makeshift family of three ancient cultivators, each with a lifetime of knowledge and insights. Really liked to MC, the fleshed-out background characters, and the world so far. The MC was likable and well-written. I look forward to the next book.

The Singularity - the merger of man and machine into a greater whole - is finally within humanity's grasp. When programmer Jeff Lawing gets the opportunity to join Singularity Online, the world's first realistic VRMMO and the testing ground that will lead to the Singularity, he leaps to accept. Singularity is much more realistic and darker than Jeff had imagined, though.

Decent over all but…
Revisado: 04-22-23
This book is decent overall but has issues.
MC is a ping pong of extreme emotions. One phrase makes him scared, the next makes him extremely happy, then extremely embarrassed. There is no development. The one relationship-ish is filled with silly troops that don't take into account the new characters' past and current situation. Like “Are you looking up my skirt?” troop. It’s silly honestly, like a middle school target audience.
But, the world-building is kind of nice. The science and magic system descriptions are good. And the VA is decent just the material he has to work with... Let's just say I can understand.
So it's not horrible, I did finish it, but I doubt I’ll pick up the next book.

Great fun read
Revisado: 01-26-22
Loved this book. Fun, simple gaming without the usual traps.
Basics: this is a book about a gamer that just wants to game and earn some money. He is gaming but not running from reality.
I enjoy the fact that the game doesn’t revolve around him or will cataclysmically end of our hero doesn’t… we’ll hero. The higher realms are working just fine without him and he’s free to explore the lower levels that many others have done before. So relaxing.
Thank you for this dear author. And great work with the reading, a little excited at the beginning but pans out in the end.

Revisado: 11-05-21
This book is so good. This book is in my top three for sure, warring for top 2, I’ll have to listen to it a few more times to be sure. Between this and Wintersteel. No spoilers, but I loved the flow of the book. Great plot progression, solid character development, and voice acting… superbly done. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m diving back in from the beginning. Bravo to Will Wight and Travis Baldree!

Historia
On Karell, you are either blessed by the gods, granted a unique power and the ability to gain experience and levels, or you are forgotten. Micah Silver was a boy picked for greatness. Chosen by the gods to bear a mythic power, he longed to take his place amongst the heroes and legends he grew up reading about. Unfortunately, his primary blessing only allows him to travel into the past by sacrificing his class, wealth, and levels - a psychological burden that Micah is reluctant to shoulder. But, even if Micah is unwilling, fate has a way of forcing you to face your destiny.

I loved it. Very well written, great story progression and characters were fun and fleshed out. Narrator was great, as usual. Cons, was a bit heavy on the melodrama in the second half. Still enjoyed it.

Wonderful story, fantastic characters!
Revisado: 06-05-20
This book, this fun-filled adventure, is a charm inducing, action charged, and oh so soothing tale that will draw the reader in and welcome them like a well-worn traveler returning to his favorite inn. Come in, the meals freshly made, the ale is hearty and stout, and your ideal room with its comforting bed of well-written characters all await you.
Indeed, it feels as if I've been enjoying this writing style for years but only forgot. Not only is the main character someone I can root for, but this character doesn't feel forced or prone to having some questionable decisions laboriously explained to assist the reader's indigestion. This attention to detail extends to all of the characters introduced. The writer spares no effort in creating a rich tapestry of background characters that may or may not have any long term effect on the hero's story. But they Do enrich the world, making me want to know more, so, so much more.
I can honestly say, I have no idea about the negative thoughts on character development. I have read so, so many books with forced emotional diatribes that are forced on characters that authors have used to ensure the reader fully, and I mean fully, understands the emotional distress of the hero, that I feel comforted when an author comes along that trusts the reader to paint in the depth of an intense event personally. So very refreshing. I must admit I tire of being force-fed so many points when good writing takes care of all those issues. Like we have here.
Even now, I am patiently waiting for the next publishers pack from Mr. Michael Sisa in this beautiful journey, which begins with Legend of the Arch Magus.

Historia
Somewhere out there, in the great expanse of space and time, exist the Fabled Islands. Nobody knows how or why they exist, only that it is a strange and special place that operates under laws separate from the universe. The Fabled Islands are made up of vast floating continents. They vary in size, with some ranging from the surface area of a small planet to a star. If you look at them from afar, you would find that they are placed in a line. Each island is separated by a vast amount of space, so there is only one way to travel from one island to the next.

Fun, Adventurous LitRPG Voyage!!
Revisado: 01-24-19
TLDR: I can say the Narrator makes the difference. Great vocal storytelling from Steve Campbell. The characters are interesting and fun. And the world is intriguing. All around great,
For anyone else who has followed Cameron Milan, please note that, in my opinion, this is the best-narrated audiobook he has out at this time. And it really brings life to his rapid style of progression.
Great characters. Loved how the MC is unique and has an enjoyable personality. The other characters are well done and the voice actor really adds flavor to them.
The world created for this series is really unique. One of the islands is very much Greed Island from Hunter X Hunter, but it was fresh enough of a spin to be enjoyable.
Glad I plucked a coin down for this. Don't let the artwork fool you, it's a great ride. Not to say it's bad, but I had a whole other idea on what this story was about.
