Historia
t’s the first anniversary of the mysterious death of Edward Luddenham, found dead at his home on the Yorkshire moors one frosty Christmas Eve. Now nine people gather at his manor house for the reading of the Will. Each has their own motivations for coming: curiosity, duty, unrequited love, desperation, greed. They have been instructed to bring a “festive mystery story” to share.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The story was well done and the narrator was top tier. I also just wanted to add all is revealed in the end.

Until the day one of her favorite customers—a lonely yet charming old man—dies right in front of her. Cassie is devastated. She always loved his stories, and now she has nothing to remember him by. Nothing but the last book he was reading. But this is no ordinary book… It is the Book of Doors. Amazing.
Revisado: 03-01-24
I was skeptical to start this book because fantasy just isn’t really my cup of tea. I am so glad I read it, anyway. This story is thought provoking and it is mesmerizing. I have laughed and cried and yelled but I never stopped listening to this story. I couldn’t put it down, it was so good! If the blurb entices you in anyway, please give this story a go. It’s wonderful.

It wasn’t bad
Revisado: 10-25-23
I really, really enjoy reading books by JM Dalgliesh! His books are made even better when Angus King narrates them. I really didn’t love this book, however. I felt like it was just slow going the whole time. The story was good and the characters were good but the story just kind of seemed to drag on.

Historia
Fleeing a troubled past, Sarah Faust has found the perfect place to begin a new life. Tucked away on a charming side street and surrounded by lush grounds, the neglected 300-year-old townhouse in the port city of Charleston offers a refuge and a place to start over. But all is not as it seems at Five Rue Lane, and she soon finds that her new house harbors something that has been there for a very long time. Something that refuses to stay buried.

It’s weird, for sure. *spoilers*
Revisado: 09-28-23
This book had great potential but it just… didn’t reach it. There were many instances where I genuinely questioned what was going on. There were parts of the story that really didn’t need to be in there… like when Shawn dies or when she meets her long lost family? Don’t even get me started on the casual incest that was thrown in there. There was also a lot of animal cruelty and cruelty to children, so if those topics bother you, maybe steer clear. I don’t think I would recommend this book and if haunting books are your thing, then I really wouldn’t recommend. It wasn’t that great.

Historia
Long ago, Nathan lived in a house in the country with his abusive father—and has never told his family what happened there. Long ago, Maddie was a little girl making dolls in her bedroom when she saw something she shouldn’t have—and is trying to remember that lost trauma by making haunting sculptures. Long ago, something sinister walked in the mountains and the coal mines of their hometown in rural Pennsylvania. Now, Nate and Maddie Graves are married, and they have moved back to their hometown with their son, Oliver. And now what happened long ago is happening again...to Oliver.

When I first started reading this book, it felt like an LSD trip. SO MANY weird things going on but, MAN, it was hypnotic. I also read along with the audiobook and the narration was very well done. I highly recommend this book. 10/10. I couldn’t put it down
