Historia
A rogue Russian nuke sails toward the harbors of Los Angeles in the hull of a ramshackle sailboat. Without destroying a single building, the bomb shatters the latticework of the American dream, toppling one piece of the economy after another. A group of Special Forces veterans and their prepper friends scramble for survival in a worldwide catastrophe so psychologically disruptive they are left questioning everything they ever believed to be true.

A pretty solid story
Revisado: 04-03-25
The story itself was viable, some good characters, great attention to detail. I don't write book reviews, but something bugged me all thru this book. Often in distopian books, women are portrayed as weak, uninformed, argumentative and lacking character. There was no departure from that trope in this book.
The women are written as ridiculous characters. The author only shows respect for one woman he writes, the one good wife who recognizes her husband is strong, smart and looks really hot in camo pants 🤣.
if he evolved a little in this area, the books would be very good

I miss Will Patton
Revisado: 09-06-23
Apparently all of Hollys heart and charm is contained in Will Patton. It’s a decent story, but I didn’t get any Holly vibe from it. I was so stoked for this book. I’m so disappointed they changed narrators.

Historia
One night can change a life. For eight-year-old Terry McQuinn, it was a snowy Christmas Eve on the coast of Maine, when Terry glimpsed a world he'd never seen before - the "summer people's" world unknown to the son of a caretaker. Serenity Cottage was a place of beauty and privilege owned by the luminous Halworths - but in the blink of an eye a tragic accident left the family in ruins. Now thirty years later, Terry has spent his life putting distance between himself and his history.

I was really sad to have this book end. A mesmerizing story, so real it’s almost tangible…. Rare indeed
