Author seems to hates his own series
Revisado: 12-14-24
The series itself is pretty top notch through book 7. With books 8 & 9, it seems the writer is unraveling everything that the series was slowly building up through book 7.
Spoilers: Making one of the more interesting characters in Styx take a back seat to nearly absent and useless. Undoing alliances and setups for either alliances/partnerships that had been a slow cool burn leading up to books 8 & 9, You have 7 books building that framework with clever manipulations by Styx, trials and actions leading somewhere. Meh, now it all means nothing. Very unsatisfying.
At a guess, there's probably a hushed business portion to writing, making the dei stuff to get certain deals. I can generally get past that, as the series has been entertaining and well written. But if you're just going to burn it to the ground, why not quit writing the series ? Contractual obligations ?

Sorry... Really? Thrust? Anyway, Danny Kendrick was a down-on-his luck performer who always struggled to find his place. He certainly never wanted to be a hero. He just hoped to earn a living doing what he loved. That all changes when he pisses off the wrong guy and gets sucked into a fantasy realm straight out of a Renaissance Fair. Getting used to a new world is tough. It's even tougher when you're surrounded by axe-wielding barbarians, super hot elf assassins, strange magic, and a jaded System that doesn't appear interested in being charged with yet another companion.

Sounbooth Theater outperforms again
Revisado: 11-14-24
A very nice pg-13ish story. Soundbooth theater has a way of making good books even better. For those who follow some litrpg stuff, I'd rate it on level with Chrysalis, though totally different story and char types.

Things are not well within the Lodrak Empire. An entire city goes up in smoke and ash, and an entire province is slowly being consumed by an ever-expanding cloud of death. But while the humans rally to contain the fallout of this disaster, they are much quicker to pin the blame for it on their elven neighbors to the north. With centuries' worth of strife and bad blood between the two nations flaring up, all out war is rapidly becoming an inevitability.

Historia
In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. After reaching the pinnacle of his power and finding it surprisingly bland, Harold waged a cataclysmic war against the gods, aiming to shatter the very system that confined him.

Fun and enjoyable
Revisado: 01-20-24
Not heavy or intense. A very pleasant and humorous adventure. Humor silly, but in an intellectual way if that makes sense. Well written and look forward to more. I'm not a DnD guy, though I'm aware and understand a bit, newer to the Litrpg genre. Genre aside, I'm finding a lot of well written and narrated stuff. The narration coming out of Soundbooth Theater may be the very best there is in audio books. No exception here, narration simply excellent. These guys could read a cookie recipe, and you'll want to hear it.

The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

force fed politics, character voices wrong
Revisado: 04-01-23
Love Ray Porter, but Kevin's voice is now a laid back white dude, instead of from India. And Richard's voice is off as well. Otherwise, Ray's performance is good.
Like everyone else, I can't stand force fed politics, be it from author or directives from publisher.

10 percent good, 90 percent painful
Revisado: 06-30-21
rc bray, great as usual. Liked first book, but this was painful. Action for actions sake, no meaning or intensity. You assume its a sim or fake throughout, so no real consequence ever. And characters can just do anything like magic any time, just anything. Character dialogue is fun sometimes, but can't save this. I need soap to wash my brain out. A few concepts, or side lines interesting, but not explored too deep

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

fun and interesting
Revisado: 05-13-21
Besides Ray Porter narrating, this book feels like a bobiverse book. Different in story line, but has that fun and light hearted feel of a bobiverse book, while still bringing science and sci-fi into it.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Separated from her ship, Major Trace Thakur is stranded on the reeh-occupied world of Rando. The native corbi have suffered beneath reeh tyranny for 800 years, and many have given up hope. But Trace needs the data stored in the reeh’s genetic technology and command center - the Rando Splicer - if she’s to learn how to save humanity from impending disaster, and is planning an assault against overwhelming odds. She’ll need help from the UFS Phoenix, though, which is caught in a ritual medieval battle to change the croma leadership.
