Awful Narrator

The story, well interesting at first became more and more implausible as it went. By the end, it had me rolling my eyes. I struggled like crazy with the narrator, simply awful

Historia
Jazz is a likable teenager. But he's also the son of a (now incarcerated) infamous serial killer, and "Dear Old Dad" has taught Jazz everything he knows. But what Jazz doesn't know is whether or not he is destined to follow in his father's footsteps. He knows he has urges, but he also knows that he has a conscience, that he can follow his own path. And so, in an effort to right his father's wrongs, Jazz decides to help the police (although they don't know it yet) hunt down "The Impressionist" - a new serial killer in town.

Great Idea, Lousy Execution
Revisado: 10-08-14
What would have made I Hunt Killers better?
Full of holes & poorly written. Felt like I was reading a story in a college literary mag. Another author (maybe Karin Slaughter, Harlan Coben or even Lisa Gardner) could have done a much better job. I don't think I'll bother with another book from this author.

Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Where does Doctor Sleep rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
What can I say; he is the master. Ten stars and the narration just added to it. Absolutley teriffic.

Absolutely horrible
Revisado: 04-13-13
What would have made Dead by Midnight better?
From the narration to the sophomoric dialogue and the underlying prejudices…there is a decent story in there somewhere, but I couldn’t get through it. Had to stop it by a third of the way through.

I LOVED the story, but it's a sad one...and I'm not sure I should be crying my eyes out at 65 mph.

Entertaining...for the most part
Revisado: 01-09-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Good story line, held my interest however the primarily entertaining plot with fairly engaging twists & turns is peppered with sophmoric and sometimes downright silly lines. The ending was so over-the-top with boy loves girl perfection it was ridiculous.
The narration could have been better but it didn't add or detract from the book.
If you’ve listened to books by David Morrell before, how does this one compare?
Not sure that I would try another book by this author.

Tom Wolfe's best-selling modern classic tells the story of Sherman McCoy, an elite Wall Street bond trader who has it all: wealth, power, prestige, a Park Avenue apartment, a beautiful wife, and an even more beautiful mistress - until one wrong turn sends Sherman spiraling downward into a humiliating fall from grace. A car accident in the Bronx involving Sherman, his girlfriend, and two young lower-class Black men sets a match to the incendiary racial and social tensions of 1980s New York City.

Just long & bad
Revisado: 10-03-09
I read the reviews and it appears that either you really like this one or really hate it. I just can't see what there is to like. Weak plot (it took about 6 hours to figure out the main characters), completely lacking in excitment, over written (though I usually like the extra detail) and an ending that does nothing to foward any 'message' the author might be wanting to get across. Just an absolutley lousy read, never mind the horrible narration with the unrealistic and grating, over the top voices. Stay away from the author and the narrator ! Horrible, absolutley horrible.

Not so hot
Revisado: 01-23-08
Dean Koontz is usually a toss up for me however I found this book corny, unrealistic & stilted. The characters were all only partially formed and it was just a really bad 9 hours. Adding to the issue was the narrator, he just never seemed to read any character right, but then how would he since Koontz never really let us get to know them. Though he gave is plenty of info on them (2/3 of the way through the book) they just turned out to be...corny (and I havn't used that word in years).
