You must be kidding
Revisado: 10-13-24
The book made me angry and sad: a scientifically sounding theory, like the conspiracy theories floating around these days, enjoyed by the want-to-be super males that gave the book all the 5 star reviews.

Openness to share
Revisado: 09-24-24
It is a great gift to the rest of us, when a person with so high mental capabilities shares her life experiences and reflections with us. In her wonderfully clear speech she takes us with her through her black upbringing and challenges of family and professional life, including neurodivergence. I am so glad this book found me!

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Good explanation
Revisado: 07-22-24
The book gives a good explanation why some people behave as they do and consider it good and normal behavior, while other people consider it criminal. How do you educate people, if they do not trust your information? A very difficult problem!

Explanation why so many cancer therapies do not work
Revisado: 03-29-24
I liked his clear explanation why many cancer therapies work or do not work. He makes a good case, why nutrition is a likely answer and the the book ends…..without the final cure….. of cause, but disappointing.

Historia
To Christina Olson, the entire world was her family's remote farm in the small coastal town of Cushing, Maine. Born in the home her family had lived in for generations, and increasingly incapacitated by illness, Christina seemed destined for a small life. Instead, for more than 20 years, she was host to and inspiration for the artist Andrew Wyeth and became the subject of one of the best known American paintings of the 20th century.

Very thought provoking
Revisado: 07-13-21
I was looking for some light literature to get my thoughts away from politics and health related issues. This book took me into a different world: living with less material luxury and with physical challenges and at the same time questioning our own choices and if we really have choices for a very different life.
