Suspenseful storyline did not last the whole book.

First book and new author to me. It was a suspenseful story but it didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat for two reasons. I pretty much guessed who did it about half way through it and was not surprised by the twist at the end. The other thing was the prose. The non-dialogue lines seemed clipped and short. This made it harder to get engaged in the story for me. I expected more complicated structure, but this is probably from the journalism background of the author. For dialogue this is expected.
Not sure I would get the next book.
Narrator was really good. Her tone matched the scenes.

Multi-faceted romantic suspense that keeps you listening

I downloaded this Audible because it follows the last series that I just finished. It didn’t disappoint. Set in Scarlett Falls, some recurring characters appear and the main leads Morgan and Lance had been featured in her last series as side characters. The romance is slow paced. If you liked the Mercy Kilpatrick series by Kendra Elliot this is similar. There’s no rush. The plot focus is the around the sudden killing of a young teenage girl and her boyfriend is the main suspect. Lots of twists and turns before the end. Wasn’t totally surprised by who did it but there were so many other threads to the story you could easily get lost.

The twist is why I keep coming back to Ms Leigh’s stories

Love the continuation in Scarlett Falls with the family. Hannah and Brody are perfect together and their romance does not center stage. The suspense and solving the crime is just what I like. Still struggle with some transitions with the oral narration. Like the going back in time for when Jewel is kidnapped. It took me a while to figure we had transitioned in time.

Looking forward to Mac’s next.

The twist at the end never would have guessed

Loved the story. Melinda has mastered the right mix of romance and suspense. This story has a twist that I didn’t see coming. Bravo!The narration seemed stilted when not speaking dialogue. Short and choppy. No emotion in the voice.

Romantic suspense that keeps you listening

Love Kendra’s audio books! This has been the best of the series. The plot twist was just right. Seth and Tory’s second chance at love was the best back drop for the story. Wish we got a bit more interaction with previous characters. And other than chapter changes, POV changes are sudden and require going backwards at times to catch it.

Suspenseful with a hint of romance

The book had the right amount of suspense and moves quickly in the storyline. Unfortunately as an audio when character POV changes it is not always noticeable and I got confused at times, having to replay the last few minutes
If you are looking for more of a romantic suspense, this is very light in the romance. At the end they were suddenly together, I missed the part where Alex’s feelings for Brynn are more apparent, such that at end of the story he and Brynn would become an item. I think the romance needed some more substantial relationship building

This is the best in the Her series yet. Marsh and Jo’s love story is interwoven with disappearance of Jo’s mom and the brutal attack on Her as a child. Toni has expertly crafted a romantic suspense that will have you on edge your seat guessing until the end. Eric Dove masterfully narrates this story as per usual.

Great romance worth the listen

Toni Andersson’s stories consistently deliver on romantic suspense. This one wasn’t the edge of my seat but was satisfying. Charlotte Blood is a favorite character. Strong, knows her self worth and doesn’t play the damsel in distress card. Novak is more realistic than I see in many stories. He exhibits a strong need to protect Charlotte but realizes she is more than capable and doesn’t interfere. He also is hesitant and uncertain in the relationship and it plays out well in the story.
The narration is spot on, smooth transitions between scenes and POV that doesn’t leave you guessing and rewinding.
