Historia
Retired romance novelist Sara Medlar has been comfortably sharing her large home with her niece Kate and her “honorary grandson” Jack. It’s a convenient arrangement given the Medlar Three, as they’ve become known, are often working closely together to solve mysteries in their small town of Lachlan, Florida. But when real estate agent Kate announces she’s been given the listing for the town’s storied Lachlan House, it sets off alarm bells for Sara and Jack. The infamous house has a dark history, one that’s certain to haunt them all.

Fabulous as always
Revisado: 05-09-24
As in the other books the characters are fabulous. Susan Bennett does a superb narration. I love how Jude Deveraux writes. It flows and the little zingers of humor are perfectly timed and Susan delivers it on cue.

Another GREAT story
Revisado: 12-17-22
Can’t go wrong with this. As usual I love Cormoran and Robin. And Robert Glenister is a wonderful narrator.
I did find listening to the scenes where it was the text back and forth a bit monotonous. What having to read the individual names of each person every time a text was written. That would have probably been easier to read than listen to.

Fabulous story. Fabulous narration.
Characters are so alive with their faith, suffering, hope and enduring strength.
Horrible facts of what a group of people perpetuated onto another group. Scary to think such a thing happened and could happen again if the world is not careful.

Couldn’t take the French accent
Revisado: 03-26-22
I couldn’t get into this story. The French accent was terrible. It ruined the experience. Couldn’t tell you if the story is good or not. It almost seems
Like it was getting better but then it switched back to the French speaking narrator and I had to stop. 😞

A bit unnerving
Revisado: 12-22-21
I love Karin Slaughter books and Kathleen Early’s narration and this is no exception. This is my 2nd time listening to Pretty Girls. I had forgotten how actually terrifying this was to listen to. By the time I realized my first go round, just like the first time, I could not stop.
As a woman listening to Kathleen portraying the villain made my skin crawl. I listen to these type storylines all the time but there is something about this particular book that really makes you think and look around.
Get ready for a disturbing story.

Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

KSlaughter never disappoints
Revisado: 12-13-21
Love her books and LOVE Kathleen Early’s narration. I don’t know if there is anyone else who’s voice of the creepy scumbag can cause such a reaction.
The sisters are sad characters who let the past have way too much control over their futures. But that’s probably a statement that falls into ‘easier said than done’ after experiencing and surviving horrible trauma.

This took me a while to get into. I had a hard time with all the family dynamics. Could be me. Not too big of a family person. BUT as it went on and it took a while, it started getting really interesting and the whole family dynamics made a lot of sense. Just how it effects who we are and what we do with our lives and future relationships.

But then her work as an expert on fine china - especially Limoges - requires her to return to the one place she swore she'd never revisit. Historia
Goldengrove’s towers and twisted chimneys rose at the very edge of the peaceful Weald, a stone’s throw from the poisonous marshes and merciless waters of Rye Bay. Young Tabby Palethorp had been running wild there, ever since her mother grew too ill to leave her room. I was the perfect choice to give Tabby a good English education: thoroughly respectable and far too plain to tempt her lonely father, Sir Kit, to indiscretion. I knew better than to trust my new employer with the truth about my past. But knowing better couldn’t stop me from yearning for impossible things.

Fabulous!!!
Revisado: 04-28-21
First off I don’t write reviews (no good at it) and 2nd I usually listen to mysteries. There was something intriguing about the description. So glad I listened to this.
Michael Crouch IS the voice of Anton. Ms Hyde write a story of love, sorrow and happiness. Everything in between. The love Anton has for Edith made me think of and appreciate my husband who loves me like this. I’m a lucky woman. This is a wonderful book and listening to the soft soothing voice of Mr Crouch made it all the better.
