Pre-prequel to 'Fire and Ice' in series

Ok, I get it now. This is the 'prequel' to Fire and Ice in the Triple Trouble series - which is also called a 'prequel'. But the real start to the characters and the series is a short story called 'Boiling Point' in a volume called Tasty Treats volume 3 - that's not in audio (at least not yet) but in ebook and print form off of Amazon.

But this still gives you background as to how the characters came together without having to read Boiling Point first. Though it would have been nice if the author had done only one 'prequel' instead of three, and numbered the rest of the series accordingly.

Either way, the stories are entertaining though.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would - if they wanted something different - a well written hot sex book with humor!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Heather - because it's told from her POV and her funny thoughts and feelings once she finds out who her mom married in secret makes this more than just any old erotica story.

Which scene was your favorite?

A toss-up between the art gallery scene when her mom makes her surprise announcement and the restaurant scene with everyone eating together for the first time.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Ooooooo, yes!

Any additional comments?

My first time listening to one of this author's stories - makes me want to try out more of his writings!

I liked that this wasn't the usual Shoshanna Evers' storyline (she normally writes more erotica style tales) - this was a sweet story about trying to hang on to wonderful past memories with loved ones long gone, but realizing you can't live in the past and have a happy future with a new special someone.

Loved the use of beautiful upstate New York (my old stomping grounds) :-) and the dogs Sarah cares for with her animal rescue shelter. Very enjoyable characters with angst and the right touch of humor mixed in.

Lovely new version of the classic fairytale

Would you consider the audio edition of Beauty and the Beast to be better than the print version?

Ooooohhhh, yeah! The storyteller quality used to narrate the book, making the characters reminiscent of some of the Disney characters. It was like a Broadway performance - very well acted. And those hot scenes that only Shoshanna Evers can write!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The evil stepmother/enchantress - her role was brief in the beginning of the story but how the narrator voiced her - oooo, la, la!

Have you listened to any of Christine Padovan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Definitely waaayyyy better than the narration of the Enslaved series. Audio quality also was great compared to previous Evers' stories.

Any additional comments?

Interesting story on PTSD

What made the experience of listening to What Part of Marine Don't You Understand? the most enjoyable?

The interesting topic of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) - as usual, Heather Long researches her characters and their problems to a 'T', so the story is a fine romance coupled with an in-depth plot/storyline.

What was one of the most memorable moments of What Part of Marine Don't You Understand??

The beginning where Matt is sitting there with a gun in his hands - it was a very emotional, tense scene! Very well written and narrated.

What three words best describe Christine Padovan’s performance?

A beautiful voice. She kind of missed the mark for this story during narration of the slower, sex scenes though. Too much elongation of endings of sentences and the way those descriptive sentences were broken up.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was a short, sweet tale - easy to finish in a back and forth 1 day commute :-)

Any additional comments?

If you want romances with background and depth, I highly recommend Heather Long's stories.

I was saving up to get 'Enamored' and 'Enraptured' which are sold separately, but so thrilled that all three stories are available as one audiobook!

If you like off the chart sex scenes, fun secondary characters that interact with the conflicted main ones and 'they lived happily ever after' endings, then this author's stories are definitely for you.

Makes me wish I had my own BAD boy! :-)

Secrets and Sacrifices Audiolibro Por Diane Wylie arte de portada

Quiet powerful narration - O.K. Civil War story

Would you listen to Secrets and Sacrifices again? Why?

No - not because it wasn't a well written story but it was rather depressing. So much bloodshed - so much detail on all the surgeries Daniel was performing to save the soldiers. The love story was a minor part of the story, but at least it does end happily.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Secrets and Sacrifices?

Charlie helping to free a family of slaves, hiding them in her family's wagon's boxes. Another is Charlie sneaking into the prison camp Daniel is being held in, and helping him break out of there. Definitely, a lot of great detail and the story follows the history of the different battles very well.

What about Christine Padovan’s performance did you like?

Her quiet narrating style for this particular story - it fit the mood of the story. Accents were O.K. Her voice made it enjoyable to listen to the story; it had so much heartache and sadness most of the time, that it was good that she kept her voice soothing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was actually nice to take a break from listening and just listen to it in bits and pieces.

When I want 'happy ever after' endings but with hot sex thrown in, I turn to this author's sweet Marine stories. This is the start of the series and not as hot as some of her others, but sets up the premise for the start of Mike's Place and all the other characters and stories to follow.

I love Shoshanna Evers' writing! It's fresh, it's fun and the characters are not perfect - they are actually very flawed and that makes the story more believable.

On occasion in the audio, when the narrator ended a sentence, there seemed to be a slight echo at the end, but that may have been the mic they used. Thankfully, it didn't distract or detract from the listening experience.
