Historia
Angie, 6, and sister Polly, 4, are utterly distraught when they arrive to stay with foster carer Cathy Glass. Their older half-sister Ashleigh has accused their father of rape, and the two young sisters have been removed from home to keep them safe. Cathy tries to comfort the girls, but they are inconsolable. They just want their mummy and daddy, who they love dearly. The girls appear to have been well looked after, but as they settle and start to talk of life at home, it becomes clear something is badly wrong.

innocent until proven guilty
Revisado: 04-29-23
I knew within the 1st chapter that the story Ashley told wasn't true. It happens all too often and destroys mens lives everyday. I would think as an experienced foster carer, u wouldn't have continually referred to Tim as a rapist or pedophile without any evidence or conviction. Who made u judge and jury? Ashley's allegations were just that and didn't give u the right to refer to them in any other form. Innocent until proven guilty. Not the other way around.

Historia
Little Jamey, 2½ years old, is placed with experienced foster carer, Cathy Glass, as an emergency. The police and social services have no choice but to remove two-year-old Jamey from home after his mother leaves him alone all night to go out partying. When he first arrives with foster carer Cathy Glass, he is scared, hungry and withdrawn, craving the affection he has been denied for so long. He is small for his age and unsteady on his feet–a result of being left for long periods in his cot.

Politics not welcome
Revisado: 04-27-23
I love all of your books and this one was heart breaking like most. I'm happy the ending was a happy one but was a bit annoyed about ur support/message about George Floyd. Yes he was killed by a "White" police officer but he was a hardened criminal with a long history of drug use and violent crimes. He once held a gun to the stomach of a pregnant woman. He resisted arrest and wouldn't cooperate with the officers.. BLM is a terrorist group who burned down cities and murdered innocent people. No mention of that in your story. Please do all your readers a favor and leave out politics.

Historia
My Prison without Bars is a courageous and harrowing journey through the catacombs of hell, from the mind and voice of a little girl, living with her own monster underneath her bed. Written in first person, this novel is not a memoir, but more a psychological thriller based on true events; chronicling one woman's attempt to claw her way out of the darkness of Child Sexual Abuse, while struggling to find normal, in a not-so-normal world. It is poignant, dark and graphic; not for the faint of heart.

Very Good Book
Revisado: 02-25-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend it to anyone who likes non-fiction books
What other book might you compare My Prison Without Bars to and why?
It doesn't really compare because it's a story on it own. Each book has a different story line so it's difficult to compare
What about Em Eldridge’s performance did you like?
The narration was easy to follow and had emotion when it was appropriate. It would be difficult to narrate numerous characters but it was done well in this book
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The last chapter pulled it all together
Any additional comments?
I can't believe this child lived through what she did and had the courage and wisdom to be a mother who loved her daughters in a way she was never loved. Amazing woman.
