Historia
Grandpa and Noah are sitting on a bench in a square that keeps getting smaller every day. The square is strange but also familiar, full of the odds and ends that have made up their lives: Grandpa's work desk, the stuffed dragon that Grandpa once gave to Noah, the sweet-smelling hyacinths that Grandma loved to grow in her garden.

If you know anyone that is getting older.
Revisado: 11-18-16
This is a wonderful short story for anyone that is getting older or knows someone who is. The story is both happy and somewhat sad however the truth rings out. Love, life, loss and more love are life and they are all contained within. Smell the sunshine and the water.

Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Dared to let the kids listen and they loved it...

A fantastic rollercoaster of a life.
Revisado: 09-10-16
This was a fun and engrossing story that seemed like Forest Gump meets A Man Called Ove meets I don't know what. It was amusing, charming, and at times laugh out loud funny as can be.

Historia
John Wayne projected dignity, integrity, and strength in all his films, even when his characters were flawed, and whatever character he played was always prepared to confront injustice in his own way. More than thirty years after his death, he remains the standard by which male stars are judged and an actor whose morally unambiguous films continue to attract sizeable audiences.

Bringing to life a legendary man.
Revisado: 01-18-15
I have watched so many John Wayne films that I can't count them all. One thing I always admired was his consistency of purpose. In this book the author traces the roots of the man's thinking, drive and temperament. The narrator was spectacular and when quoting the Duke sounded as if the Duke was saying it himself. If you know who John Wayne was then this is a great book for you. If you don't know who John Wayne is buy two copies, one for you and one to give your best friend, they will thank you for it.

Historia
Written in a flowing narrative style, Kitty Genovese: A True Account of a Public Murder and its Private Consequences presents the story of the horrific and infamous murder of Kitty Genovese, a young woman stalked and stabbed on the street where she lived in Queens, New York in 1964. The case sparked national outrage when the New York Times revealed that dozens of witnesses had seen or heard the attacks on Kitty Genovese and her struggle to reach safety but had failed to come to her aid or even call police until after the killer had fled.

A sad story of a sweetness taken to soon.
Revisado: 01-05-15
I remember the story from when I was very young. Hearing the details of of both Kitties life and the evilness of Winston was something new. I can't help but wonder about the strange and incredible series of events that brought these two paths together. I wonder what the world would be like if even one of them had changed. Most of all I wonder why our society has let this monster live after almost everyone else involved is gone. My only thought is that it must be so we don't forget.

To these seven narratives of neurological disorder Dr. Sacks brings the same humanity, poetic observation, and infectious sense of wonder that are apparent in his bestsellers Awakenings and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. These men, women, and one extraordinary child emerge as brilliantly adaptive personalities, whose conditions have not so much debilitated them as ushered them into another reality.

So many moving ideas
Revisado: 12-26-14
This book was so fascinating in both the variety and curiosity of the stories. It gave me a lot to think about in the way I deal with other people and how I relate to myself.
