Historia
Author Brian Switek is a charming and enthusiastic osteological raconteur. In this natural and cultural history of bone, he explains where our skeletons came from, what they do inside us, and what others can learn about us when these wondrous assemblies of mineral and protein are all we've left behind.

Self congratulatory flagellation

interesting stories sort of, interesting facts sure. Mired with political whining in place of interesting synthesis and story telling. No one cares about your Modern Educational Establishment Orthodox politics. Touch grass. 😑😮💨

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

cute and whiny

I enjoyed the story a lot and the performance was great. Unfortunately there were some tropes in the book that made it hard for me to stay connected with the story.
As a woman one thing I struggle with, with female culture is the seeming unending need to whine. Life will kick your butt and spit in your face. In my experience there is only so much productive runway with commiseration before it turns overly stuff indulgent 🤷
