Let Jesus Take the Reins
Revisado: 02-22-23
Loved it! This audiobook underscores the thesis that to live extraordinary lives filled with purpose and intentionality, ultimately we must surrender our own plans, listen to hear God's advice, heed His Word, and follow his optimal plan for our lives. Through a series of letters to women facing life's challenges, the author shares stories unveiling her personal and professional journey of self-discovery. Aside from being a gifted writer whose candid, richly developed, vivid, and inspirational stories transport the listener to each time and place of turbulence and triump, the author has the uncanny ability to engage the listener in experiencing the journey with her. The author's altruism and passion for helping others shine through as she sojourns to make a difference in the lives of her listeners by sharing advice from her own life experiences coupled with the wisdom of scriptures. Her compassionate, velvety voice engrossed me in the unfolding stories, and I found it hard to pause her narrative until the very end. I walked away all the wiser and immediately began applying the wisdom from the book to my own life experiences.

Historia
Yinka’s Nigerian aunties frequently pray for her delivery from singledom, her work friends think she’s too traditional (she’s saving herself for marriage!), her girlfriends think she needs to get over her ex already, and the men in her life…well, that’s a whole other story. But Yinka herself has always believed that true love will find her when the time is right.

A Brilliant Journey to Self Discovery and Love
Revisado: 10-09-22
Ronke Adekoluejo is an exceptional narrator who brings life to the characters in this book, helping you envision each one and understand their personalities and their nature. Yinka has it all, then loses it, and through introspection and meaningful encounters with others discovers how to love herself and what truly makes her happy. This book is delightful and addictive! I praise the author Damilola Blackburn who emmerses the reader/listener into a different culture while demonstrating the unpredictable nature of love. It's a great book. I truly enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it!

Historia
Percival Everett's The Trees is a must-listen that opens with a series of brutal murders in the rural town of Money, Mississippi. When a pair of detectives from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation arrive, they meet expected resistance from the local sheriff, his deputy, the coroner, and a string of racist White townsfolk. The murders present a puzzle, for at each crime scene there is a second dead body: that of a man who resembles Emmett Till.
