With his trademark mirth and boundless charisma, actor Nick Offerman brought the loveable shenanigans of Twain's adolescent hero to life in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Now, in yet another virtuosic performance, the actor proves that despite being separated by a span of over a century, his connection to the author and his work is undeniable and that theirs is a timeless collaboration that should not be missed.

Droning.
Revisado: 07-24-23
I was excited to listen to this title. I’d picked it up & put it down over the years and thought an audiobook would work better. Offerman is such a brilliant actor that I felt I’d easily enjoy this book. It felt like he hated reading it almost as I hated listening! He sounded bored. So bored. It reminded me of the reason I stopped reading so long ago. I just couldn’t get further than 7 chapters. The droning was too monotonous.

Enjoyable listen. Good narrators.
Revisado: 02-24-23
The narration is wonderful. You have to forgive some of the mispronunciations. Don’t let it ruin your experience. Her deep southern accent reminds me of some of my old relatives that are around anymore. That brought back fond memories.
I didn’t care for the way it ended. There was such hope for an alternate direction. Both for the storyline and for the characters. It was intriguing enough to make me look for other works by the author.

Woke judgmental author.
Revisado: 02-09-23
Tell me the rationale for calling out “rich WHITE influencers” trying to spread joy. Need to be accepted by a different demographic? Dearest woke author, you think the Kardashians aren’t privileged and spreading trash quick-fixes? And Lebron James isn’t privileged? Wow what a trash book. Let me guess. You are a privileged white liberal virtue signaling. Disgusting book. Hoped for more.

Historia
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

Good listen but tricky with ADHD
Revisado: 01-11-23
This is a great podcast to follow to listen to a clear voice speak about the Bible. What is tricky for me is that I need some thing that is very structured and with longer episodes because my mind wanders when someone bounces around. The average person listening to the us, will love it. It was hard for me to give it less than perfect ratings, but the fact that every episode starts with another introduction, it’s like going up and down a roller coaster from my mind. It would be easier if she remained on topic and made episodes longer.

A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Phenomenal. Waiting for a new Gone Girl? This was it for me.
Revisado: 09-19-19
I loved this book. If I could have rated the reading as a 10 I would have. Best performed - truly performed - book I’ve ever listened to.
The story was unlike any I’ve heard or read in years. I appreciated the twist and thought I was truly a “wow” moment the way it was dropped in along the storyline. I loved it and the characters. I haven’t rated anything a 5 in very long. I mean every star. Well deserved.

Drawn out with boring end
Revisado: 09-07-19
This book started with such potential. I liked the interactions during the book club meeting. From there I expected growth of suspense and exciting lies. I followed the story to the end out of curiosity- would it improve? It didn’t. The storyline was flat, I felt no suspense or excitement about what would happen next. The tension we should feel between the antagonist and protagonist was lost early and drawing out the story to create suspense just didn’t work. I was rolling my eyes and hoping for an interesting twist. I didn’t find one. The narrator was good but whiny. I didn’t understand some of the adult characters sounding like little girls.

This poet of Victorian times was held in awe for his magnificent works, including "In Memoriam", "Morte D'Arthur", and "Charge of the Light Brigade". His language and command of vocabulary seem particularly in keeping with the grand sweep of Victorian ambition. Many selections are asembled here and read with great character by Dame Sybil Thorndike, Sir Edward Casson, and Robert Speaight.
