Historia
Jet gave up everything to make it to the top of rock. On track to take over his family's business and wealth, he defied everyone to start at the bottom and work his way up to become drummer of one of the world's most popular bands, Forever and a Dai. And his family might have forgiven him if he hadn't taken his cousin Dai with him. Jason is everything Jet chose not to be: an obedient son, a powerful and respected lawyer, wealthy, established, and set to inherit the family kingdom. Dai's brother, and Jet's cousin, he is a constant reminder of everything Jet should be and is not.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-03-19
I wanted to like this since I loved Megan Derr's The High King's Golden Tongue and The Pirate of Fathom's Deep so much and so I came into this with high expectations. Maybe that was my mistake. About a third of the way through the book I knew it was a lost cause but even then I held out hope that by the end of the book everything would somehow turn around and I'd at least like some parts of it.
The problem, for me, is that the story lacks an emotional tether because ultimately none of the characters were that likable or at the very least relatable, so I didn't care for them. All characterizations felt superficial and surface level, which was mirrored in their relationship dynamics. It felt like Megan Derr hadn't really given much thought to the characters, the story, or even the city in which they live in. Like I'm 99% percent sure the name of the city they live in wasn't even mentioned once. And for all the talk about how much Jet and Jason supposedly "love" each other and secretly "want to be more" with the other, none of that really shines through because the relationship was put onto the back-burner of the story, which was supposed to be about their forbidden love affair? The plot developments also felt like it was ripped out of a teen cw show and just... went all over the place, and the resolution for the couple was shoe-horned in. So much happened and yet absolutely nothing worthy of note happened and it just dragged on and on and on.
Ultimately, I wanted to like it but couldn't because it was bland, boring, and uninspired.
I didn't like the narration either but I think that's all up to taste so I won't say anything more on that.
