Historia
Anthony Bourdain saw more of the world than nearly anyone. His travels took him from the hidden pockets of his hometown of New York to a tribal longhouse in Borneo, from cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, Paris, and Shanghai to Tanzania’s utter beauty and the stunning desert solitude of Oman’s Empty Quarter - and many places beyond. In World Travel, a life of experience is collected into an entertaining, practical, fun and frank travel guide that gives listeners an introduction to some of his favorite places - in his own words.

Wonderful short reviews of many countries and food
Revisado: 05-17-23
The narrators do a great job of recreating Tony’s character. If you’re traveling and want to know about local culture, travel and food it’s a fun and informative listen. You can stop and start anytime.

Historia
Amazon.com started off delivering books through the mail. But its visionary founder, Jeff Bezos, wasn't content with being a bookseller. He wanted Amazon to become the everything store, offering limitless selection and seductive convenience at disruptively low prices. To do so, he developed a corporate culture of relentless ambition and secrecy that's never been cracked. Until now.

Disappointing and uninteresting
Revisado: 06-14-17
I was really looking forward to listening to this book as I have listened to bios of Steve Jobs, Keith Richards, Elon Musk and more. They were all concentrated on the men's personalities and were great. This was very disappointing and frankly - boring. I did not finish it.

Amos Decker's life changed forever - twice. The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to go pro. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good and left him with an improbable side effect - he can never forget anything.

Imaginative. Can't wait to get the next one!
Revisado: 06-03-17
I'm a bookseller but have a long commute so I listen to a lot of books. I saw this one on the shelf and knew I had to have the audiobook. The premise of Amos Decker's condition makes this very interesting. Heartbreak, perseverance and twist and turns make this very enjoyable. Easy to listen to as there are not an over abundance of characters. I really can't wait to get the next one!

Historia
Ann Rule was working on the biggest story of her career, tracking the trail of victims left by a brutal serial killer. Little did this future best-selling author know that the savage slayer she was hunting was the young man she counted among her closest friends. Everyone's picture of a natural winner, Ted Bundy was a bright, charming, and handsome man with a promising future as an attorney. But on January 24, 1989 Bundy was executed for the murders of three young women - and had confessed to taking the lives of at least thirty-five more women from coast to coast.

Long but holds your attention
Revisado: 05-15-17
I had no idea about Ann Rule's relationship with Ted Bundy. The irony of the most well-known true crime writers having known Ted Bundy personally, continuing through the end of his life is well, ironic.
The book is very long but it is so well written with intimate details, that it keeps you listening. I did find myself checking how much longer till it was over because I couldn't see what more there was to tell, but there was always more.
Ann Rule is at the top of her game with this book, which is also the definitive bio of Ted Bundy. I would guess that no one has more insight into his life and the two sides of his horrific personality.

Historia
After a 12-year absence, a real-life prodigal seeks to serve his hometown, New Auburn, Wisconsin, population: 485, by joining the volunteer fire and rescue department. In a place where men post claims of manhood on bug deflectors, where the local vigilante is a farmer's wife with a pistol and a Bible, and where the most senior firefighter is a cross-eyed butcher with one kidney and two ex-wives, writer Michael Perry sets out "to meet my neighbors at the invitation of the fire siren".

Wanted to read for years - disappointing
Revisado: 11-18-16
I thought this was going to be all about small town life, but Perry starts with some stories that don't connect - I was really disappointed. I have no idea when he started with the actual book because I quit reading it as it didn't make sense. I got the other books and hope they live up to their descriptions.

VERY ENTERTAINING and highly recommended
Revisado: 10-15-16
I bought this based on a few reviews. I usually listen to non-fiction when I drive but thought I would try this book.
It is just great - well written, fully developed characters, unexpected twists and turns. All played out against people who are famous and/or kind of famous - from pro football and tennis to rock and ballet.
"Lizard" the narrator is an excellent choice.
You'll be hooked from the first chapter!

Historia
Bennie Rosato, Mary DiNunzio, Judy Carrier, and Anne Murphy are back with all cylinders firing in Accused. Mary Dinuzio has just been promoted to partner and is about to take on her most unusual case yet, brought to the firm by a thirteen-year-old genius with a penchant for beekeeping. Allegra Gardner's sister Fiona was murdered six years ago, and it seemed like an open-and-shut case: the accused, Lonnie Stall, was seen fleeing the scene; his blood was on Fiona and her blood was on him; most damningly, Lonnie Stall pleaded guilty.

Very disappointing on all fronts
Revisado: 09-25-16
I am a bookseller and always listen to books while I am driving. I like to read or listen to at least one book by each author who has a series and this was my first Scottoline. I expected it to be good based on her popularity. No way.
The plot was thin, without any doubt as to the nature of the real murderer's realm. It took at least 80% of the book to focus on investigating other suspects.
I kept waiting because I knew at one point the heroine would be in danger. It was obvious it was coming and she was presented as too clueless to see what was going to happen.
AND, the narrator was annoying. When the female lawyers were at odds or troubled and they "spoke", she made them sound whiney instead of the competent lawyers they are supposed to be. If they were male, it would have been a real argument instead of a teenage girl fight. No more Scottoline for me.

Historia
In The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, Amy mines her past for stories about her teenage years, her family, relationships, and sex and shares the experiences that have shaped who she is - a woman with the courage to bare her soul to stand up for what she believes in, all while making us laugh. Down to earth and relatable, frank and unapologetic, Amy Schumer is one of us: She relies on her sister for advice, still hangs out with her high school pals, and continues to navigate the ever-changing boundaries in love, work, and life.

Pure Amy - Profane, Provocative and Entertaining
Revisado: 08-22-16
A friend said she wasn't going to listen or read this book because it would be all about sex and vulgarity and there is more to life than that. She is right and Amy Schumer gives you insight into her life as a little rich girl whose family lost it all, her father's battle with MS and parts of her life we never knew. It's also raunchy, controversial and pure Amy. You wouldn't expect any less. Very funny and surprisingly touching.

Excellent beginning then mediocre
Revisado: 08-04-16
After I listened to the first quarter of the book I bought a copy for my son to read. By the time I sent it to him I had finished the book. I thought it was still a good story but it bogs down in the middle with too many descriptions of fires. They all seem to run together. The parts where he talks about the physicality of the job and equipment are interesting. I would recommend it for someone who is interested in the subject.

Disappointing
Revisado: 08-04-16
I have read one other Anna Pigeon book and it was very good. I liked the background on the park as well as the story. This book gives us very little of Anna or the description of Acadia. It concentrates on the other characters for 80% of the book.
