Historia
The nominal king, Edward VI, is 11 years old. His uncle, Edward Seymour, Lord Hertford, rules as Edward's regent and Protector. In the kingdom, radical Protestants are driving the old religion into extinction, while the Protector's prolonged war with Scotland has led to hyperinflation and economic collapse. Rebellion is stirring among the peasantry. Matthew Shardlake has been working as a lawyer in the service of Henry's younger daughter, the lady Elizabeth.

Tombland is a Superb Work
Revisado: 03-05-20
Superb writing and performance. C.J. Sansom’s brilliance is on full display. The vividness of his word pictures along with Steven Crossley’s performance points this to being a masterpiece of historical fiction. Adding to the enjoyment was the length of the book. Never boring or tedious this tour de force is fitting resolution of the Shardlake story and what is possibly C.J. Sansom’s last writing . End brought tears to my eyes.

The Wolf's Hour: Superb Story and Performance
Revisado: 12-02-16
I'm not a fan of science fiction at all. Find it silly and tedious. This story however is so unique and the context so engrossing that it took on an enjoyable twist of reality. The dramatic read was superb and added sophisticated touch to the werewolf episodes. The main character could easily have supported a series of books. Odd that only one sequel was issued years after the initial release. This book will provide any fan of WW II espionage with hours of enthralling entertainment.

Excellent Read
Revisado: 04-19-16
Any book read by Simon Vance is enjoyable. I've read Steve Robinson's earlier novels and found their historical context a fascinating backdrop to Jefferson Tayte's personal quest and storyline. It was a treat to listen to this most recent novel and again found the story riveting. I look forward to more JT mysteries read by Simon Vance.
