Historia
Cyberspace is all around us. We depend on it for everything we do. We have reengineered our business, governance, and social relations around a planetary network unlike any before it. But there are dangers looming, and malign forces are threatening to transform this extraordinary domain. In Black Code, Ronald J. Deibert, a leading expert on digital technology, security, and human rights, lifts the lid on cyberspace and shows what's at stake for Internet users and citizens.

fine for the oughts, but dated
Revisado: 02-25-22
if a book about internet freedom describes 2013 as the future, it's woefully out of date.
I'm sure it accomplished what it set out to do at time of publication; it just feels like it doesn't make any sense to listen to a book from the perspective of the oughts when there have been so many public and extraordinary developments in the last few years. looking forward to reading the author's more recent stuff

Historia
If you've wondered how we did not see the economic collapse coming, Ha-Joon Chang knows the answer: We didn't ask what they didn't tell us about capitalism. This is a lighthearted book with a serious purpose: to question the assumptions behind the dogma and sheer hype that the dominant school of neoliberal economists-the apostles of the freemarket-have spun since the Age of Reagan.

One sided, otherwise good
Revisado: 06-17-15
An excellent introduction for someone with no background in economics. Yet, so one-sided it's not even funny. Feels like only half the story.

Historia
Written by cancer physician, researcher, and award-winning science writer Siddhartha Mukherjee, The Emperor of All Maladies is a stunning combination of medical history, cutting-edge science, and narrative journalism that transforms our understanding of cancer and much of the world around us. Mukherjee examines cancer with a cellular biologist's precision, a novelist's richness of detail, a historian's range, and a biographer's passion.

A Passionate First Glance at Cancer
Revisado: 02-18-12
Would you listen to The Emperor of All Maladies again? Why?
This book is intense, rich, and passionate. I cried. Everyone I know who read it cried. But despite the terribly depressing moments, it's very engaging. I'd read it again, mostly to catch the science more deeply, but the book's emotion has never left my soul.
Would you recommend The Emperor of All Maladies to your friends? Why or why not?
If you've had anyone close to you afflicted with cancer, you need to read this book.
What about Stephen Hoye’s performance did you like?
The narrator was engaging, and appropriate.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
You probably couldn't listen to this book in one sitting unless you really tried to.
