Especially Europe and USA parts are brilliant

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 07-30-08

I've read or listened to nearly half of the Bryson's books. No need to mention that I'm a fan of his. This collection is composed of three separate books. The first one is about Britain. I think it's the faintest book of Bryson. Though, it's not bad after all. Maybe it contains too much local information that's too alien to us. It's not about being familiar with Britain. I've never been to Australia for instance, but I loved his book "In a Sunburned Country".

But the others are just brilliant. I bet you'll listen them again and again. The one in Europe makes you feel like you're traveling those places with a best possible travel companion. And the last one will make you understand better what an Ordinary American's life is like.

Like a mosaic

The title may be deceiving. The book is like a mosaic, never gets focused on some specific area. It was a great joy to learn lots of valuable details on "History of Science" from my favorite author M.Shermer. But I think, I expected something more.

Well, this title is not as brilliant and vibrant as "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff!. It's rather like a textbook on a good topic. But if you give it a fair chance, you'll get as much stuff as Richard Carlson's masterpiece works. His approach for "handling stress" in later chapters is quite original. I simply loved it.

Worth trying

After giving some basic instructions on "purpose in life", the author applies a 7-question assessment. I applied to myself and this experience gave me valuable insights for my own purpose. Don't expect miracles, but I think it will also be useful for you. Two more things: 1) I advice you to read/listen some basic self development books before this, 2) There are some references to religion, though they're not so disturbing.

Helpful book but ...

First of all, this is a good book and I recommend you. But it would be much better if the author had avoided inaccurate and misleading scientific references (unfortunately, this is a common flaw of nearly all spiritual authors). Overall, I enjoyed the book a lot and found many good ideas to contemplate.

Not only procrastination

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 02-13-07

Though the summary tells that the book is on "overcoming procrastination", it provides more than that. Centered to "procrastination", Brian Tracy summarizes all his productivity tips in 21 titles. It's my fifth audiobook of Tracy and this one also succeeded to bring me new ideas. I highly recommend it.

Solid work

First of all, you won't be disappointed by purchasing this book. Previously, I've listened to "Roadmap for Success". It changed my life for good. If "Today Matters" was my first John Maxwell book, it would make nearly the same effect. The only negative thing is overemphasize of religion. It's just my opinion of course.
