Historia
Walking in My Joy is a collection of electric stories by the one and only, super hilarious Jenifer Lewis. Her commentary on what’s happening in the world today, told through her outrageous real-life adventures, will have you laughing out loud, while her insightful messages touch your soul. A self-described “traveling fool and nature freak,” Jenifer takes listeners with her all over the world, from Cape Town to Bali; Washington, DC, to the Serengeti; Mongolia to St. Petersburg; and Argentina to Antarctica to demonstrate how she walks in her joy by seeking pleasure in everyday encounters.

If it weren’t for Emma Johnson, Caryn Johnson would have never become Whoopi Goldberg. Emma gave her children the loving care and wisdom they needed to succeed in life, always encouraging them to be true to themselves. When Whoopi lost her mother in 2010—and then her older brother, Clyde, five years later—she felt deeply alone; the only people who truly knew her were gone. Emma raised her children not just to survive, but to thrive. In this intimate and heartfelt memoir, Whoopi shares many of the deeply personal stories of their lives together for the first time.

Ntozake Shange’s most beloved novel, Sassafrass, Cypress & Indigo, is the story of three “colored girls,” three sisters and their mama from Charleston, South Carolina. Sassafrass, the oldest, is a poet and a weaver like her mother, gone north to college and living with other artists in Los Angeles, trying to weave a life out of her work, her man, her memories, and her dreams.

Not only was this story beautifully written and told, I truly loved the side notes of real recipes given for the listeners to actually use!
I was so in to the story I didn't realize it was over, I wanted more! I don't what or how much longer I wanted it to be, but I was enjoying it just that much!! And it ended beautifully!

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Mom discovers that I’ve been keeping Carmel a secret from her and tells me that we’re not welcome at Apple Blossom B&B. So I pack up my bags and head to the only place I can think of that will take me and a pregnant dog in…Jax. Of course, he answers the door in just a towel with his hair damp and his chest glistening from water droplets. Thankfully, I regain my senses and ask him for a place to stay while I sort out my life. He’s hesitant, but agrees.

The Best of the series so far
Revisado: 02-29-24
I enjoyed this book so much better than the previous books. The storylines were more interesting, had a little more depth to them. I still can't get over how rude, weak, spoiled these women are in this town. Without giving spoilers, Juniper is abused, but have the nerve to be a spoiled brat towards her parents and they are only trying to protect her. And Claire..... Rolling my eyes!

Better than book 1 and 2
Revisado: 02-27-24
I enjoyed this book of the series because it was more focused on Bash, I didn't care for that back and forth Abigail was doing with him. She was acting like Shelby, who thoroughly got on my nerve. And all of these "romances" sound the exact same.... boring! I would space out a bit when the attention was on Claire and Jax. OVERALL, this series is boring with a few bright spots that have kept me intrigued.

THRAAASSSSHHH part 2
Revisado: 02-23-24
I just can't call this book a Romance. Shelby was awful til the very end. There was nothing romantic about all of that back and forth she was doing! I'm hoping in the 3rd book there is little to no attention to Shelby, Belle has more character and dept than she does.
I figured Bash was going to end up being some famous rich man, which I like. I've been more interested in him and him alone, than any other character of this book. And I do look forward to hearing his story!
I do hate I started this series, now I feel like I have to finish it. I'm just hoping it actually gets a little better.
