Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

The Best in a long time
Revisado: 03-05-17
This is one of the best stories I have ever read. Absolutely a stellar story and told with a wonderful Irreverent turn of phrase. The story tells something that is rarely covered in Sci Fi and that is what happens when the earth happens to be in the way of a real interstellar war. Not since David Webber or Eric Flint have we seen such an author. Absolutely a must read.

Historia
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement.

important read for any true American

it is horrible to think a few unelected one percenters can derail the will of the American people so completely

Historia
Though the Thirty Years' War continues to ravage 17th-century Europe, history as it once happened has been strongly deflected by the new force that is rapidly gathering power and influence: the United States of Europe, an alliance between Gustavus Adolphus, King of Sweden, and the West Virginians from the 20th century, led by Mike Stearns, who were hurled centuries into the past by a mysterious cosmic accident - the Ring of Fire.

Historia
There has always been some gap between rich and poor in this country, but in the last few decades what it means to be rich has changed dramatically. Alarmingly, the greatest income gap is not between the 1 percent and the 99 percent, but within the wealthiest 1 percent of our nation-as the merely wealthy are left behind by the rapidly expanding fortunes of the new global super-rich. Forget the 1 percent; Plutocrats proves that it is the wealthiest 0.1 percent who are outpacing the rest of us at break-neck speed.

Historia
Once the Church of God Awaiting dominated all the kingdoms of Safehold. Then, after centuries of stasis, the island kingdom of Charis began to defy the edicts of Mother Church—egged on, some say, by the mysterious warrior-monk Merlin Athrawes, who enjoys the Charisian royal family's absolute trust. What vanishingly few people know is that Merlin is the cybernetic avatar of a young woman a thousand years dead, felled in the war in which aliens destroyed Earth...and that since awakening, his task has been to restart the history of the long-hidden human race.

Great Series, Good Story, Bad Narration
Revisado: 01-31-13
I feel I have to comment, and put a little context.
The Series: is excellent and well written, however it does tend to drag a little, I know this era is where most of the meat will be, but at the rate he's going it will take him about 30 books just to take over safehold never mind the G-baba
The Narration: I understand it is hard to keep the same narrator through an entire series like this, I imagine its really tough to schedule, but for god's sake do a professional job of it. The first narrator sets the tone and all others must honor that tone or it will turn readers off. The switch from first to second narrator was not too bad, most pronunciations, accents and inflection were similar, the only criticism is that the second narrator is obviously far far older then the first and it throws you a bit, especially when the vast majority of the characters are supposed to be very young. Lastly the latest narrator Kevin Collins should never have been allowed to narrate anything, he has done no research he listened to none of the previous books to understand pronunciation, and he over acts in the extreme, it does not matter if he is listing a dinner menu everything is of earth shattering importance, I don't want to crush the poor guy but you really should burn this copy re-do the whole book six with the first narrator and send a new copy to every poor soul who had the poor judgement to buy this thing. To be fair it is in no way all his fault, there are producers, recording techs and god knows how many other people involved in these recordings and Weber himself, were none of them paying any attention to this, do we matter so little, for pete's sake he pronounced just about every character and place completely differently then anyone else!
I will listen to the rest of the book since I usually listen to them during my commute and I just want to get this over with but I positively grit my teeth through the whole thing, I wish Merlin Athross??? could just PICA(apparently now pronounced Pike-A, instead of Peak-A) this thing better.
Lastly i'm not kidding when I say this Macmillian Audio, Audible and David Weber should apologize for this utter disaster ASAP, this is just not right.

In The Sword of the Lady, Rudi Mackenzie's destiny was determined. Now he returns to Montival in the Pacific Northwest, where he will face the legions of the Prophet. Good continuation
Revisado: 10-02-11
This is a backfill book, but it fills in the holes in the story nicely, however I would have prefered that Stirling cut back and forth and stayed on the same timeline it would be less jolting
