Historia
Lily isn’t exactly thrilled with her arrival in the Afterlife, but what awaits her there is more fantastical than she ever could have imagined: Deities wait in line at the coffee shop. Fae flit between realms. Souls find ways to make death a beginning. As she explores the many corners of the Afterlife, Lily finds herself surprisingly drawn to a place most people would avoid at all costs: Hell. Armed with years of customer service experience and pent-up sarcasm, Lily carves a job out for herself amongst Hell’s demons, sending souls to their rightful circles with more than a hint of sass.

Sexy, fun, and emotionally healthy

Across the board a wonderful listen - giving all the in depth backstory of the Tiktok characters I've grown to know and love over the past couple years. With the amount of stress in the world, this kind of escape is somehow also healing in the process. Eager for the next installment in hell!

Dual Narrators - YES!!
Revisado: 01-28-23
There need to be more dual narrators for books that switch between primary characters' perspectives. I really enjoyed hearing the voice switch with the perspective.
This is the first book I've listened to by this author. It's part of a series and that always grabs my attention. So far so good. It was well written and kept me mentally engaged.

Best book I've read/heard in a very long time
Revisado: 08-12-22
Loved this entire book. It provides a intense tactile experience through a rich main character as she works to explore who and what she really is. So much inclusion and healing. Lovely to escape the pressures of real life for a while!

Historia
Years ago, the SS Arcadia vanished without a trace during a routine voyage. Though a garbled emergency message was broadcast, neither the ship nor any of its crew could be found. Sixty years later, its wreck has finally been discovered more than 300 miles from its intended course...a silent graveyard deep beneath the ocean's surface. Cove and her dive team have been granted permission to explore the Arcadia's rusting hull. Their purpose is straightforward: examine the wreck, film everything, and, if possible, uncover how and why the supposedly unsinkable ship vanished.

I'm a solid Darcy Coates fan. This one haunted me the whole time I was listening to it. The only thing I had a hard time with was the main character's name. Every time the narrator said "Cove had..." I heard COVID. 😆

Historia
There are stacks upon stacks of self-help books that will promise you love, happiness, and a fabulous life. But how can you pinpoint the exact behaviors that cause you to be miserable in the first place? Sometimes when we're depressed, or just sad or unhappy, our instincts tell us to do the opposite of what we should - such as focusing on the negative, dwelling on what we can't change, isolating ourselves from friends and loved ones, eating junk food, or overindulging in alcohol. Sound familiar?

Persuasive, straightforward, and practical, Why We Get Fat makes Taubes' crucial argument newly accessible to a wider audience.

Good information, a bit longer than necessary
Revisado: 02-04-16
What made the experience of listening to Why We Get Fat the most enjoyable?
This is a pretty long book, with a lot of history and background information. It was significantly better to listen to the book than read it (I would never have finished the book).
What did you like best about this story?
He covered all his bases with a lot of evidence - both scientific and anecdotal.
What three words best describe Mike Chamberlain’s performance?
Solid though mistaken
What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
The complete flip of the cause of retaining fat. I really like this flip-side view and getting rid of the calories in/calories out math.
Any additional comments?
Chamberlain consistently read "causal" as "casual" and "causality" as "casualty". It made for some confusing passages regarding the scientific study results.

Discipleship is costly. Are we willing to critique and even challenge much we've been taught for the sake of the kingdom? For this is the radical nature of the discipleship to which Jesus calls us. He did not allow the outside culture to hold him captive; instead he established the kingdom of God and turned the world on its head. Jesus was untamed, and he calls his church to be the same.

Love the book
Revisado: 03-17-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would absolutely recommend this book. I would recommend the audiobook to those who want to read but have too much travel time in their lives.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Untamed?
The most memorable moments were the discussions on God and orgasms.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was a bit deliberately 'deep and thoughtful' and occasionally dragged down the heart of the book into a monotonous plod. Someone who walked in while I was listening commented that it sounded like a brainwashing session.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did not listen to this in one sitting, as the book is over 8 hours long, but I turned it on during commute times, and laundry-folding and distribution times.
Any additional comments?
The narrator consistently and distressingly mispronounced 'nuclear'.
