Historia
It's one of the most revered movies of Hollywood's golden era. Starring screen legend Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly in her first significant film role, High Noon was shot on a lean budget over just 32 days but achieved instant box-office and critical success. It won four Academy Awards in 1953, including a best actor win for Cooper. And it became a cultural touchstone, often cited by politicians as a favourite film, celebrating moral fortitude.

Revisado: 10-08-23
An interesting story about a time the red scare ran rampant. Seems incredibly relevant today as far as where we are as a nation. Blacklisting is now done by social media. Would definitely recommend this Audible book. The movie still holds up but this book really adds to the narrative.

Historia
Often called "Accident Park", "Class Action Park", or "Traction Park", Action Park was an American icon. Entertaining more than a million people a year in the 1980s, the New Jersey-based amusement playland placed no limits on danger or fun, a monument to the anything-goes spirit of the era that left guests in control of their own adventures - sometimes with tragic results. Action Park is the first-ever unvarnished look at the history of this DIY Disneyland, as seen through the eyes of Andy Mulvihill, the son of the park's idiosyncratic founder, Gene Mulvihill.

A gem of a man with a vision
Revisado: 12-04-21
Unique story of a father with a dream of a thrilling park for adrenaline seeking teenagers. On the edge of danger but that’s what made it fun. No way in these times could a person build and open this to the public now. Great perspective from the son. Fun listen.

Historia
For those who could read between the lines, the censored news out of China was terrifying. But the president insisted there was nothing to worry about. Fortunately, we are still a nation of skeptics. Fortunately, there are those among us who study pandemics and are willing to look unflinchingly at worst-case scenarios. Michael Lewis’ taut and brilliant nonfiction thriller pits a band of medical visionaries against the wall of ignorance that was the official response of the Trump administration to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Another good book from this author
Revisado: 10-05-21
In the midst of this pandemic it can be a tough read I think we all would like to stay under the covers until it's over. This book needed to be written though. All of the author's books are well researched and have a different perspective. Not a cookie cutter turn off my brain read. Worth a person's time to read/listen.

If you are a fan of John D. Macdonald this is another good one of the Travis McGee series. Although written long ago it still holds up. Give it a try and the Audio performance was great as to be expected from the series.

Historia
With its brilliant and brutal portrayal of the Corleone family, The Godfather burned its way into our national consciousness. This unforgettable saga of crime and corruption, passion and loyalty continues to stand the test of time, as the definitive novel of the Mafia underworld. A #1 New York Times bestseller in 1969, Mario Puzo's epic was turned into the incomparable film of the same name, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. It is the original classic that has been often imitated, but never matched.

great writing by an author who seemed to have lived in Michael's shoe's. The narration made this quite entertaining, was late to some meetings by listening an extra ten minutes or so. This is a classic.
