A Defining Book
Revisado: 10-26-21
Franklin Roosevelt, "a second rate intellect and first rate temperament " was the best possible leader in one of the most difficult times for our country. This book is about how he evolved from an upper crust snob into a President who alleviated the distress of the citizens by pushing for programs that provided relief and instilled hope.
The narration throughout, by The inimitable Grover Gardner, is on point and clear.
An excellent listen.

Art curator Val Caruso is not a happy camper. His promotion has just been nixed, his divorce has become final, and he’s dug himself into a nice little rut for his fortieth birthday. The uplift? A trip to Milan to help Holocaust survivor Sol Bezzecca recover a pair of cherished sketches by Renoir. They’d once been given to Sol’s family by the artist, looted by the Italian Fascist militia, and now after decades in hiding have turned up for auction. It’s Val’s job to get them back. Unfortunately, his Italian adventure takes a dangerous turn when he becomes trapped in an intricate web.

A romance for art lovers
Revisado: 07-09-17
Set in the 14th century, at the cusp of representational art and religious upheaval, this is about the struggle of a woman to manifest her talent and passion in the early renaissance. Detailed descriptions of the meticulous preparation and technique of painting are blended with the story elements. A good read and listening experience.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. Held my interest, but had some holes in the plot
Revisado: 12-25-16
Reading was good, plot had few holes, especially when the morality of a Dispatcher is considered. How were the Dispatchers chosen, what were their talents that suited them to the task. Can the premise of this book be true in any sense? Still this is a thought provoking, well narrated book.

This is the best reading of one of the great moral tales. Tim Curry is expressive, sympathetic, and spot on in his characterizations. A wonderful experience for the holiday season, thank you Amazon.

Entertaining, thought provoking listen and read
Revisado: 12-24-16
A hard to stop reading/listening, involving book with a time travel premise. The narrator is skilled and his believable voice characterizations help to move the story along. A layered story with many present-day inferences, this is a well plotted tale with no loose strings to unravel its structure, unlike most time-travel books. It is well worth buying and is a bargain for Prime members.
