I love these books so much! they are like a bag of candy I can't put down. I listened to all 7 in the span of 10 days. this is the 3rd time I have listened to these books. They are not the deepest most thought provoking books but I love them more with every listen! Kirby does an amazing job and this series remains one of my favorites.

Similar premise to his other books

If you've read 14, or The Fold by Peter Clines, you'll end up recognizing the premise for this book, which is similar but not the exact same. However, it didn't really have that mind-blowing reveal like 14 or The Fold had. It does have good pacing throughout and I thought that the narration more than passable.

I found the depictions of some scenes quite graphic and disgusting. If you have even a hint of emetophobia (extreme fear of vomiting), do NOT listen to The Broken Room.

Overall, it was worth one listen but I won't be coming back for a second listen. I'll stick to the brilliance of my two other favorites mentioned above.

Short but sweet

I first listened to this book on a cassette tape as a young child. I just loved the imagery throughout the book and the author's voice is soothing. The instrumentals are a lovely addition.

Listening as an adult was such a great throwback. It is 100% worth the few dollars I spent to revisit a piece of my childhood.

Nice beginning for starting a mindful life

The people in these interviews are good examples of how to bring consciousness out of meditation and into daily activities. And the meditations at the end of each segment give one a way to start meditation. Small steps for bigger change.

The author has some great descriptions of how he thought about his possessions, how he approached giving things up, different ways to get rid of things, and why you will feel happier once you have minimized your belongings. He said the same thing multiple ways, and for me, that could have been left out.

Amazing!

I loved the progression of the story. The ending gives you that untethered feeling you get when you try and comprehend something too vast to really understand.

The story premise was interesting, the plot was good and the narrator's voice was well matched to the main character and solid on the other's. I enjoyed this story.
