Really enjoyed!
Revisado: 06-10-22
I started this not knowing what to expect, but I was immediately sucked in and listened as often as I could. It's a great story, and wonderfully narrated by Jim Dale (he's the reason I got this on audio actually). If you love stories with characters thrown into the unknown and learning about the new world along with them, you should enjoy this one!

Historia
Simon Basset, the irresistible Duke of Hastings, has hatched a plan to keep himself free from the town's marriage-minded society mothers. He pretends to be engaged to the lovely Daphne Bridgerton. After all, it isn't as if the brooding rogue has any real plans to marry - though there is something about the alluring Miss Bridgerton that sets Simon's heart beating a bit faster. And as for Daphne, surely the clever debutante will attract some very worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable.

I came to the audiobooks after watching the Bridgerton Netflix series. This book focuses on Simon and Daphne, and it is really heartwarming. The narrator is awesome, and I really enjoyed listening to her.

Magical new world
Revisado: 06-27-20
This book kept me listening! I loved being on the journey with our heroine as she figured out what she stumbled into and what in the world was happening. This was such a fun imagination on hidden world within our normal one - we don't get too many details on how things work, but it's definitely a fun aspect. Not vulgar or graphic, just a fun, easy read! Highly recommend if you like magical doses in your getaway. Narrator does a great job with the voices.

Couldn't stop listening!
Revisado: 05-16-20
I got this as an Audible book, because of Amanda Ronconi, the narrator. She did a great job with an accent as Thea! I couldn't stop listening as we went on the journey with Thea to find answers. There were so many twists and turns, it was like putting a puzzle together. I highly recommend reading this book if you need a good story to escape into - it has lots of mystery sprinkled with a little romance, but mainly is about a woman learning what she is capable of and where she stands in the world. 5 stars!

Historia
The happiest day of Payton Lambert's life was the day she graduated high school and watched Bald Knob, Kentucky, get smaller and smaller in her rearview mirror. She wanted more for her life than a tiny town where everyone knows your business and you can't find a decent cup of coffee for at least 40 miles. Twelve years later an unexpected phone call in the middle of the night has her packing up her life in Chicago and racing back home to the one person she ever regretted leaving behind.

Pretty good lighthearted mystery
Revisado: 05-15-20
I thought the premise was interesting, so I was hooked to finish! I wanted to know what happened to Jed! The main character, Payton has an attitude and isn't really very likeable, except I guess she does stick with her friend. Early on she just complains and criticizes everyone who doesn't like her coffee or who likes different coffee, but finally we see some character growth and nicer qualities. Her love interest is a blast from the past who has had a torch for her for 12 years, despite not seeing her. He is a good guy, but sometimes comes across as too unrealistic and perfect. Her friends Emma Jo, Betty, and the rest of the Bald Knob crew come alive and I can picture this small town with its super nosy people. This wasn't my favorite book ever, but it is a good listen and fun escape. There is strong language throughout the story. The narrator does a good job. I will be reading more from Tara Sivec.

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

Hilarious the whole way through!
Revisado: 05-10-20
I listened to this book without stopping, staying up waaay too late. It was so worth it though! I laughed out loud, blushed furiously, and cheered with Heidi's evolving language and self knowledge.
I picked this book because I love listening to Andi Arndt narrate, and I was excited to hear something she co wrote. I haven't read a Tara Sivec book yet, but halfway through this one I added multiple titles of hers to my "must read" list.
I think this book will be a repeat listen soon!

Historia
After one year of marriage, Crown Prince Arthur and his lovely, albeit accident-prone wife, Princess Tessa, are preparing to bring an heir to the tiny kingdom of Avonia. With all eyes on Tessa, she's determined to be one of those fabulously fit pregnant women. She could do it too if it weren't for all the freshly-baked scones. Soon dubbed the Cowntess of Camembert, Tessa wants to go into hiding until after the baby is born, but royal life won't wait, and she needs to figure out how to make the best of a desperate situation and win the people over once and for all.

Laughed a lot!
Revisado: 05-09-20
I've listened to/read the whole Crown Jewels trilogy now, and I have laughed so much! The characters share their personal, sometimes cringy and awkward but hilarious, thoughts on all the things. This book continues Tess and Arthur's story and I love following along with it.
The narrators both took some getting used to - the male voice does a weird Tessa impersonation, like she is always whining, but I got used to it. The female voice does great as Tessa, and I feel like she is able to bring out Arthur's softer, less cocky side when she does his voice. I do appreciate that the same two people narrated all 3 books in the series.
(There is some cursing, if that bothers you.)
Overall, it's a great listen/read! I'm adding all the books from this author to my "to read" list!

Historia
Ultra-private, ridiculously handsome Crown Prince Arthur has always gotten by on his charm. But that won't be enough now that the Royal Family is about to be ousted from power once and for all. When Prince Arthur has to rely on the one woman in the kingdom who hates him most, he must learn that earning the love of a nation means first risking his heart. Twenty-eight-year-old Tessa Sharpe, a.k.a. The Royal Watchdog, hates everything about Prince Arthur. As far as she's concerned, he's an arrogant, lazy leech on the kingdom of Avonia.

Fun and silly romantic comedy!
Revisado: 04-24-20
I really enjoyed listening to this book and laughed out loud throughout the whole thing, usually at "did that really just happen?" moments, of which there are many. There are f-bombs throughout, which I usually don't care for, but it didn't take me away from the story. I liked both narrators once the story got going, and appreciated that we got chapters from both Tessa and Arthur's POV. I found it thought provoking about the way attention on royals/famous/public figureheads is handled from a media standpoint, especially easy to hide behind computer commenters who may or may not be extra divisive for the money involved. Highly recommend!
