Historia
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

It's kind of a letdown from the first book.
Revisado: 11-22-23
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one isn't nearly as good it still has interesting world building and decent character moments. However, some of the characters don't seem to act the way they would in the first book, and there are some miner but annoying inconsistencies from details about the first book. Overall not a bad story, but there are points where I see more interesting ideas that could have been but were not utilized to their full potential.

A good story
Revisado: 11-22-23
Honestly, it's one of the better books I've read this year. good narrative, interesting characters, and a great universe with many possibilities. Only slightly brought down by lack of detail in key points of the story.

The book focuses on the wrong characters...
Revisado: 09-09-23
I want to hear about Hassa's story. I am a firm believer that if you have more interesting things happening in your story and you don't focus on them you could have (and should have) told a better story. There are so many more interesting characters than the bland ones the story focuses on. The performance also takes away a lot from the characters. You really only get one emotion from each character. All and all, not a bad book but one I'm going to forget in a couple of weeks for sure.

Historia
Three low-income families have been given a handsome retainer to join Geraldine Borden for a day at her cliffside estate. All the parents must do to collect the rest of their money is allow their children to test out the revolutionary playground equipment Geraldine has been working on for decades. But there’s a reason the structures in the bowels of her gothic castle have taken so long to develop—they were never meant to see the light of day.

Honestly, I don't understand the good reviews...
Revisado: 07-11-23
There are no compelling characters in this story at all. I mean, Gore is fine and good, but I'd like to feel something about the characters that are being actively dismembered. Sure, there are some hateable characters, but when they do die its as satisfying as bowling pins being knocked over. Maybe I don't understand something about this book, but it's just gore porn with no compelling reason. You could get the same effect of this book watching 2 girls one cup while throwing hamsters in a blender. (I don't recommend or condone it, but it would be the same.)

An interesting and informative story about the struggles of indigenous peoples. While I don't necessarily agree with all viewpoints expressed by characters in this book, I did enjoy both the action and intrigue.

mediocre story horrible narration
Revisado: 07-27-22
This books starts out strong establishing a matriarchal society with some intrigue and a few interesting characters. But at about the half way point everything starts to feel so cliche not to mention serious plot points are glossed over and brought back up only when they are relevant. This book is worse than bad it's a potentially great story buried under mounds of mediocrity.
