Historia
Frank W. Abagnale was one of the most daring con men, forgers, imposters, and escape artists in history. In his brief but notorious criminal career, Abagnale donned a pilot's uniform and copiloted a Pan Am jet, masqueraded as the supervising resident of a hospital, practiced law without a license, passed himself off as a college sociology professor, and cashed over $2.5 million in forged checks, all before he was 21. His story is now a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

Historia
In this edition, we hear, translated into modern English, 20-some tales, told in the voices of knight and merchant, wife and miller, squire and nun, and many more. Some are bawdy, some spiritual, some romantic, some mysterious, some chivalrous. Between the stories, the travelers converse, joke, and argue, revealing much about their individual outlooks upon life as well as what life was like in late 14th-century England.

Great work, great narration, but in wrong order
Revisado: 03-16-19
Originally recorded by Blackstone audio excellently, on tapes. Clearly audible put the tapes in the wrong order. I think the whole work is here, but am not sure.

In this final volume of a towering work that is both literary masterpiece and living memorial to the untold millions of Soviet martyrs, Solzhenitsyn's epic narrative moves to its astounding and unforseen climax. We now see that this great cathedral of a book not only commemorates those massed victims but celebrates the unquenched spirit of resistance that flickered and then burst into flame even in Stalin's "special camps."

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Historia
Good, modern, civilized Western men today are expected to think like "citizens of the world" - obligated to everyone and no one. Natural, meaningful tribal connections have been substituted with synthetic, disposable consumer identities. Without a sense of who they are and what group they have a place in, modern men are becoming increasingly detached, disoriented, vulnerable, and ever more easily manipulated.

Excellent book overacted
Revisado: 05-19-18
The author is brilliant and the concept are mind altering, but the narration is comically over-masculine, as if they are thoroughly over compensating.
Brilliant nonetheless!!

This scientific writing, which was considered to be the groundwork of evolutionary biology, presented the theory that species developed over a line of originations through a method of natural selection. It imparted evidence that the variety of life resulted from a common descent via a branching model of evolution.

I don't know how abridged, I just know they removed "by the creator" from the last poem of the book.
Which worries me, what else did they remove /edit?

The project was simple: An attractive, successful magazine journalist, Robin Rinaldi, would move into a San Francisco apartment, join a dating site, and get laid. Never mind that she already owned a beautiful flat a few blocks away, that she was 44, or that she was married to a man she'd been in love with for 18 years. What followed - a year of sex, heartbreak, and unexpected revelation - is the topic of this riveting memoir, The Wild Oats Project.

The best horror story I've ever read
Revisado: 12-19-17
If this book doesn't dispel your soul mate fantasies, nothing will. This book is an excellent window into the insane rationalizations of everyday women. Not even Lovecraft can match the cosmic horror of the alien that this book so casually drives home.

Riddled with leftist bs
Revisado: 09-27-17
Same story, you've heard it a million times before. Big crisis looms, he's rich, but not rich enough that he can help and lots of poor people need help. Bottom line is someone has to pay, and it's not going to be him, even though he lives in a luxurious mansion.
What's worse is that supposedly soon no human will be among these "rich people". All humans will effectively be poor, which he's sad about for some reason, even though that's clearly his utopia.

The book is based on an international view of economics, includes examples from around the world, and shows how certain incentives and constraints produce similar outcomes among disparate peoples and cultures.

Not about economics!

I like hearing Sowell rant about how stupid liberals are, but aside for the katharsis, this book has very little to do with applying economics. I'd say this book is a shortened combination of his culture series and his basic economics book
