I don’t know if it was the narrator or the production. But listening to this was not difficult… it was painful.
I kind of think it was the production. But this should not be available. And I can’t return it because I bought it and didn’t use a credit.

I have enjoyed the books I have read by EB. I which there were more of them available in audio format.
I think EB writes interesting characters.
Sometimes the heartache they endure is hard to read. Thank goodness for the HEA.

Difficult listen

So, I like the story but I will never listen to another book by this narrator. I can’t even begin to tell you how horrible her narration of the main male character is.

My kind of guy.

What did you love best about Grim?

The wounded warrior who remains true to his values and character is my kind of man. The strong committed woman who sees and loves beyond the pretty face is my kind of woman. This is a story of two such people. Plus I really enjoyed several of the secondary characters...especially the children.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I hated this storyline!!! If only there had been a hint that this was a 'rape' trope I would have known not to get it. Way to much abuse in this storyline for me.

Has Heartless turned you off from other books in this genre?

I like historical romance as a genre but not this type.

Any additional comments?

I usually like Mary Balogh's books but I was unprepared for this one. I wish I had known I could return it.

Would I buy this book?? Yes I would!!!

I was lucky enough to 'win' this book and so here is my review.
This is book 3 in a series. The good news is it's a 'stand alone' that works very well. Ms. Galway has written a humorous contemporary romance....one of my favorite genres. This book is a light hearted romp with real life issues for the lead characters.
In addition to the good story Ms. Eby did a good job as a narrator. I have hearing problems and I could hear and understand her easily. She refrained from the annoying and problematic soft then loud then soft then loud......that keeps me from listening to so many books.
If you enjoy humorous contemporary romance this is for you......I now plan to get the other books in the series.

I love the series. The narrator does a good job. Plus there is not all that loud/soft, loud/soft speaking that as a hard of hearing person drives me crazy.

Miles has found 'the one'

I love the Miles Vorkosigan series. This particular story is fun and light hearted and entertaining. Grover Gardener is one of my favorite performers. This is especially true now that I am hard of hearing. Lois McMaster Bujold is one of my favorite authors.
