Historia
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Very good production of a good story
Revisado: 04-30-25
This production drew me in immediately and made me feel invested in following the characters through to the end. I don't usually like to listen to dramatized versions of books - I did like this one. I'm not familiar with the author before this, but it was good enough to make me curious about their other writings.

Storm Front is an impressive first novel.
Revisado: 12-24-22
Jim Butcher is brilliant. James Masters is a great reader for these books. The Dresden Files series starts out with a great first novel. Butcher's writing gets successively better and better. Every book (and short story) in the series takes you deeper into Harry Dresden's life. I don't usually appreciate first person narrative, but The Dresden Files has changed my mind. Butcher's urban fantasy works have had a huge influence on the genre. Harry grows as a person and all the supporting characters are three-dimensional with an important role in Harry's life. James Marsters' performance brings everything into detailed focus and makes it easier for the audio reader to follow the story. These audiobooks are worthy reading and I reread them all periodically. I never get tired of the stories.

This needs to be re-read by Kimberly Alexis
Revisado: 11-10-22
The performance by Cynthia Holloway was worse than all the other Anita Blake novels she's read. The book itself is well written and the story gets an A+. My only wish is that there be less heterosexual hot & steamy sex and more homosexual encounters that are just as steamy.

Please bring back Kimberly Alexis
Revisado: 11-07-22
Please re-produce these books with someone better, preferably Kimberly Alexis. I won't re-read any of the Anita Blake books performed by Cynthia Holloway. She makes the characters very flat, snide and unlikeable - 2 dimensional. I plan to return all these books read by her.

Steamy and somewhat violent urban vampire fantasy.
Revisado: 11-04-22
Reading performance is poor, but slightly improved the previous novel in the series - Cerulean Sins. Characters are still difficult to distinguish. She is no longer attempting to read the characters with French and British accented English - also no poor attempts at US regional dialects. The story is a good one, as the main character, Anita grows into her powers and begins to resolve the problems in triumvirate.

Historia
Once a sworn enemy of all monsters, Anita is now the human consort of both Jean-Claude, the master vampire, and Micah, the leopard shape-shifter. Not quite as human as she once was, she is consumed by both their hungers - desires that must be sated time and time again. When a centuries-old vampire targets Jean-Claude and his clan, Anita finds herself tested as never before - needing all the dark forces her passion can muster to save the ones she loves the most....

Mediocre reader ... at best
Revisado: 11-01-22
Worst attempt at a French accent in English I've heard in many years. Almost quit reading. Most of the characters sound snide or snippy and at times are indistinguishable. Please re-record using *Kimberly Alexis* - her attempt at French-accented English is passable. And her character portrayals are well-defined without being pushy.
The story is quite a good alternate history & urban fantasy adventure.

Historia
James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.

This apocalyptic novel should be one book
Revisado: 09-15-21
Although the performance was excellent, the narrative of the book itself is too fragmented by dividing it into Three arbitrary 'Parts'. The characters are engaging and the story is a kind of interesting, but too predictable.
