Historia
Rusty is a retired judge attempting a third act in life with a loving soon-to-be wife, Bea, with whom he shares both a restful home on an idyllic lake in the rural Midwest and a plaintive hope that this marriage will be his best, and his last. But the peace that’s taken Rusty so long to find evaporates when Bea’s young adult son, Aaron, living under their supervision while on probation for drug possession, disappears. If Aaron doesn’t return soon, he will be sent back to jail.

Stunning!
Revisado: 01-20-25
This brilliant masterpiece should appeal to the following readers: 1) Those who appreciate a well written mystery that is so beautifully yet simply creative as to be worth every word of its twenty hours. There is a remarkable insight into the human condition which allows the reader to bathe in a river of true mystery, ethical questions, and multidimensional cast of characters that are as different as all the hues in a rainbow.
2) those readers that appreciate experiencing the shifts of their own emotions as Turow leads us as a skillful pied piper into the full breath of motivation, behavior and paradox. 3)Those that like being legitimately fooled by a master of manipulation. If one person out of 100 can guess the ending they should get an Edgar from the Mystery Writers of America.
4) For those who appreciate legal jargon and argument this book has that too. 5) For those who like trivia and want a close look (education) at the goings on of a courtroom this book has that as well. 6) YES- something for everyone.
One caveat: Once in the courtroom you can enter and exit at will according to your own interest so that you can design your own read according to taste without changing the flow or energy of your read. Get ready for the real McCoy in a multidimensional reading experience!!

Finally, a book that REALLY IS like Gone Girl!!!!
Revisado: 01-12-20
Over the years many blurbs compare various books to Gone Girl or say if you like Gone Girl read such and such a book. Well, the Cinderella slipper finally fits perfectly. If you take a pass on As Long as We Both Shall Live you may have found other exceptional thrillers but this one is the real McCoy and lands a bullseye for the ingenuity and locomotive like energy of Gone Girl!!!!

My favorite mystery of the year
Revisado: 10-03-19
I am an avid mystery/thriller reader who recognizes the abundant number of talented mystery writers out there That said Lisa Unger has just lit up the sky like the 4th of July with The Stranger Within. She is the Pied Piper of her genre. She will grab you and pull you gradually, then explosively into her book. You will be there in person feeling all the feelings of her characters and in awe of the plot line and brilliant twisty remarkable ending. You will come away saying “if I were going to a desert island and could only choose one book it would be this one.” Kudos, Lisa. I was in the publishing world where I was inundated by incredible reads. You still stand out like a sore thumb

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

In the summer of Star Wars and Son of Sam, a Long Island schoolgirl is found gruesomely murdered. A local prosecutor turns a troubled teenager known as JT from a suspect to a star witness in the case, putting away a high school football star who claimed to be innocent. Forty years later, JT has risen to chief of police, but there's a trail of a dozen dead women that reaches from Brooklyn across Long Island, along the Sunrise Highway, and it's possible that his actions actually enabled a killer. That's when Lourdes Robles, a relentless young Latina detective for the NYPD, steps in.

Unputdownable!
Revisado: 09-06-18
Peter Blauner must be subconsciously channeling Jim Thompson, Thomas Harris and John Sandford. This book has it all-the hypertrophy of evil, the electricity of a hot wire, crime writing at its best and the fascination of the finest police procedurals. I’m a mystery/ thriller junkie and I just had one hell of a fix!!!
