Historia
From Barack Obama’s chief speechwriter Cody Keenan, a spellbinding account of the ten most dramatic days of the presidency, when a hate-fueled massacre and looming Supreme Court decisions put the character of our country on the line, and a president’s words could bring the nation together or tear it apart.

Great Structure And Detail
Revisado: 08-16-23
One of the better books about the Obama White House from a very relatable voice. Enjoyed the framing structure and the sheer amount of detail and vignettes the author was able to squeeze in. While technically about a ten day stretch working on an important moment for the administration he manages to fully outline the second term and general philosophy of the administration. His Obama impression won’t get him on SNL but all the same a really good listen

Historia
Stepping into the ring against light-heavyweight champion Archie Moore, George Plimpton pauses to wonder what ever induced him to become a participatory journalist. Bloodied but unbowed, he holds his own in the bout—and lives to tell in this timeless book on boxing and its devotees, among them Ali, Joe Frazier, Ernest Hemingway, and Norman Mailer.

Mid-Century American Machismo from a More Nuanced Perspective
Revisado: 06-15-23
The book is a witty adventure into boxing that becomes a who’s who of mid-century athletes and writers. A super fun listen for fans of Muhammad Ali, Norman Mailer, Hemingway, and Hunter S. Thompson – all from the perspective of the “straight man” watching all of these characters whirl around the fray. Well narrated as well.

Historia
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Takes a minute to accept such anothrecognized voice as another recognized voice

But it’s worth it. A great performance of a classic. Should be standard high school reading everywhere
