Historia
In the inspiring tradition of Black Hawk Down, this is the riveting real-life story of how an Australian SAS signalman's courage under fire saved more than 80 lives. It is an enthralling eyewitness account of the war on terror. Jock Wallace was pumped. It was the start of Operation Anaconda, the US-led military offensive to flush out al Qaeda and Taliban from their last stronghold in the Shahi Kot Valley in Afghanistan.

Historia
In one of the most compelling combat narratives ever written, Staff Sergeant David Bellavia, an Army infantry platoon leader in Iraq, gives a teeth-rattling, first-hand account of 11 straight days of heavy house-to-house fighting during the climactic second battle of Fallujah. His actions in the firefight, which included killing five insurgents in hand-to-hand combat, earned Bellavia the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and New York state's highest military honor, the Conspicuous Service Cross.

Entertaining Listen
Revisado: 01-21-08
The author's down-to-earth while engaging and detailed style made this one of my favorite recent listens. Sure made two long drives fly right past. Gave me a much different perspective on things 'over there' than all other media sources have. Just a warning - quite a bit of front-line infantry style profanity than a more traditional documentary format so might be better to avoid if that is going to offend you. I found myself laughing out loud frequently though.

Best selling political humorist P.J. O'Rourke tackles the "fashionable worries" - enormous global problems that are endlessly in the news and constantly on our minds but about which we mostly don't have a clue in this hilarious, thought-provoking audiobook.

Interesting
Revisado: 03-25-06
First off, if you have never read O'Rourke before, make sure you will not be offended by regular mocking of left-wing policies and government interference in free markets. If this offends you and you are not willing to listen to his points, you will not enjoy this work.
Since this is not an issue for me, I enjoyed this as much as I have other of his works. Even though it's 12 years old at this point, it still has mostly accurate information that has changed in only a few areas since publication.
I listened to this work on a very lengthy drive in a single shot and it made the time pass quickly. I tuned out in a few areas where there was a little rambling, hence the 4 star and not a 5 star rating.
I was also disappointed in the audible format 4 quality of the recording - it sounded more like a compressed format 1 recording. It becomes tolerable after you get used to it though. Perhaps I have been spoiled by more recent releases that have better quality on audible. This one though wasn't as good as quality as say books on tape or cd from the library.
