Historia
Shari Franke’s childhood was a constant battle for survival. Her mother, Ruby Franke, enforced a severe moral code while maintaining a façade of a picture-perfect family for their wildly popular YouTube channel 8 Passengers, which documented the day-to-day life of raising six children for a staggering 2.5 million subscribers. But a darker truth lurked beneath the surface—Ruby’s wholesome online persona masked a more tyrannical parenting style than anyone could have imagined.

Such a sad story. Very well written. Prayers for healing for these kids! So glad there’s somewhat of a happy ending.

Always good
Revisado: 03-31-25
I think this one is probably the most depressing of all of the HG books. But it’s definitely the book we needed to understand Haymitch. I loved how we see how all of the characters are connected. This book was done really well and makes me want more!

Classic
Revisado: 10-22-24
This was probably one of my favorite SK stories so far. I’ve always really liked the movie and finally got around to reading it this spooky season. I was happy to find out that the movie followed the book so well. I think what makes this story so creepy is that it could easily happen in real life. I loved the narrator. She did a great a job, and after listening for a while you could hear Kathy Bates.
I also really liked that this story was a LOT cleaner than most of his books lol. His books are always loaded with language and obscene references. This one was a much easier listen if his excessive language normally bothers you some.
If I had to complain about something I would say the lengthy chapters reading Paul’s book weren’t necessary…I found the Misery storyline cheesy and boring (which I think is how it’s supposed to be). But like I said that was only if I had to complain about something.
Overall very happy with this read and I will definitely listen to it again. :)

This was really well done. I think the movie was better…the story was creepier in the movie. But the book was good and the narrator did a great job.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Hockey lover
Revisado: 09-19-24
This was a really good listen. It was a little slow starting but definitely picked up. It’s a sad listen but the ending is good. As a hockey fan but not a player I enjoyed this book…but hope the conditions and the bullying in the hockey world aren’t as bad as this book describes. Wasn’t a huge fan of the political push…it wasn’t a major part of the book so I guess it can be overlooked but seemed unnecessary for the author to push their political agendas. (Men are bad women are better, the woman is always right, gays are so mistreated, etc)

This book was really good. It had me feeling all the feelings. I was frustrated with Frankie for almost all of “part two”….but I think it was supposed to be that way. Definitely makes you think more about soldiers coming home with ptsd and not understanding what’s going on. Thank you to all men and women to have served!

Historia
Arden Lennox's charmed life may be in pieces, but she'd sooner get her hoohaw bleached than move back in with her parents. She's no longer the prom queen princess married to the football star. She's a broke, penniless widow, and it's time she stood on her own two feet. An under-construction unit in a quaint Chicago brownstone is cheap (free), but it comes with an unexpected surprise. Tyler Ramirez, her brother's gawky high school best friend, is now a smoking hot firefighter who spends most of his spare time in her unit hammering, drilling, and screwing.

Ehh…no plot, no story line.
Revisado: 04-02-24
There wasn’t much of a story…,it was honestly kind of boring just because there was literally nothing going on. There’s nothing that keeps you hooked and wondering what will happen next. Nothing exciting. Nothing deep and meaningful. I think the author maybe tried to add some deep stuff but it was off and definitely fell flat. Found myself rolling my eyes a lot at the convos between the two main characters, especially at the end. Idk…I probably wouldn’t recommend it unless you want something that you don’t have to pay attention to at all and still be able to follow. I listened when it was free thank goodness.

Historia
Pine River was supposed to be a new start for me. And it was, especially attending school with my three overprotective cousins, who were the triplets at the top of the social hierarchy. Except they weren’t alone there, and the first day when I came to school, I saw him. Scout Raiden. Tall. Lean. Tattooed. Mesmerizing. He was a golden god with dark and piercing eyes—looking like he wanted to eat me up. The feeling was mutual, and that was a problem.

Cheesy. Dramatic
Revisado: 03-28-24
The story line was okay. The ending was weak. I’m assuming all of the gushing reviews are middle school girls. The way it was written was very immature. The whole thing was over the top dramatic and unrealistic reactions to literally everything. Every boy in this story was soooo hot and so macho that all they ever want to do is fight with each other. All of the girls snotty pretty girls who either wanted to fight too or liked bullying. I hated the cousins. Their stupid over protectiveness was also unrealistic. The narrators weren’t good. The girl narrator was okay but the guy…..CRINGE. Like I said the story line was okay but the ridiculous unrealistic reactions by every character just ruined it. I finished the book because I thought it might have a decent ending. It was just terrible…just weak.

Revisado: 03-11-24
A little repetitive in places. Amazing player! Respected by everyone. Sucks he got stuck with the Pens his whole career lol. Imagine what he could have done on a decent team. As a fan of Crosby but not the Pens it’s still pretty amazing what he’s done for their organization. Love stories like this. Wish there more Audio Docs like this on other players. Go Nucks! ;)
