Historia
All her life, Annie has played it nice and safe. After being unceremoniously dumped by her longtime boyfriend, Annie seeks a fresh start. She accepts a teaching position that moves her from Manhattan to a small village upstate. She’s stunned by how perfect and picturesque the town is. The people are all friendly and warm. Her new apartment is dreamy too, minus the oddly persistent spider infestation. Then Annie meets Sophie. Beautiful, charming, magnetic Sophie, who takes a special interest in Annie, who wants to be her friend.

Don’t judge a book by its cover
Revisado: 09-21-22
At first you may think this is a silly story about a girl named Annie who is heartbroken and unable to do anything about it but you’d be wrong. This is a story about a woman realizing you aren’t “the other half” of a person, but a whole person yourself. You don’t need anyone else to make you happy, thats your job. I hope my daughter will read this book one day (quite some time from now) and learn this important lesson. Give this book a chance! Its not quite what it seems, its more!

Historia
In this “outstanding debut thriller” (Booklist, starred review), Helen’s idyllic life—handsome architect husband, gorgeous Victorian house, and cherished baby on the way—begins to change the day she attends her first prenatal class. There, she meets Rachel, an unpredictable single mother-to-be who doesn’t seem very maternal: she smokes, drinks, and professes little interest in parenthood.

Not What I Had Hoped
Revisado: 02-05-22
I was so excited for this book, the cover is great and its my favorite genre - a British mystery/thriller. Unfortunately I was disappointed. While the narration was very good, I found the main character's whinging to be unbearable after awhile. She also seems unbelievably naive over situation after situation. Nobody, especially a woman, could have that little intuition. About half way through I knew what was going on but had to keep listening to get the details, which didn't end up being very satisfying anyway. Overall, its not bad writing but the characters were a bit hallow and mostly unlikable.

Historia
Josh Baxter, the man behind the wheel, is a virtual stranger to Charlie. They met at the campus ride board, each looking to share the long drive home to Ohio. Both have good reasons for wanting to get away. For Charlie, it’s guilt and grief over the shocking murder of her best friend, who became the third victim of the man known as the Campus Killer. For Josh, it’s to help care for his sick father - or so he says.

I disagree with the negative reviews
Revisado: 07-08-21
I disagree with the negative reviews for this book, and i'm a picky thriller reader! Riley sager's writing was clear and concise, no descriptive fluff to distract you from the story line, which I appreciate. I was engaged the entire time and while I figured out some of the plot twists (I read a lot of mysteries so this isn't unusual) I still felt compelled to keep listening. I enjoyed Charlie's emotional journey and her personal growth throughout the book. Also Savannah Gilmore does an excellent job! This is a good one to get lost in for awhile.

Historia
One year ago, the person Olivia adores most in the world, her father, left home for a meditation retreat in the mountains and never returned. Yearning to make sense of his shocking departure and to escape her overbearing mother - a woman as grounded as her father is mercurial - Olivia runs away from home and retraces his path to a place known as the Levitation Center. Once there, she enrolls in their summer program for troubled teens, which Olivia refers to as “Buddhist Boot Camp for Bad Girls”.

Perfect combination
Revisado: 06-22-20
This book is the best thing i've listened/read since Circe, and I listen to a lot of books. The writing is truly intoxicating. it makes you think and question. It digs in deep about topics we all touch upon sometimes but don't take the time to unravel ourselves. I would pause and rewind certain parts just hear them again and soak them into my brain. This is a very talented writer and the narrator does an exceptional job as well, the combination is perfect. You wont be sorry using a credit on this.

Historia
Kihrin is a bastard orphan who grew up on storybook tales of long-lost princes and grand quests. When he is claimed against his will as the long-lost son of a treasonous prince, Kihrin finds that being a long-lost prince isn't what the storybooks promised. He also discovers that the storybooks have lied about a lot of other things, too: dragons, demons, gods, prophecies, true love, and how the hero always wins. Then again, maybe he’s not the hero, for Kihrin is not destined to save the empire. He’s destined to destroy it.

Deeply complex
Revisado: 03-10-19
To say this is a deeply complex book would be an understatement. If you are not prepared to take on a story that has many unnecessarily confusing components and an alternating time line with two vastly different points of view, this book isn't for you. I'd venture to say that while the narration is excellent, this book would be better read than listened to. Unfortunately I didn't find myself attached to any of the characters as I usually do in an epic fantasy, this was the most disappointing part for me. However if you are one of those people who cares mostly about the depth and complexity of world building and you are prepared to take A LOT of mental notes about who all the characters are (they have very similar names) and where the story is going, then proceed and I wish you all the luck!
