There is so much to love about this book. An intriguing plot, complex and well-developed characters, and mesmerizing descriptions of locations and events. Also, there is an epic love story. Suzanne Trauth expertly connects all aspects of the past with the present to make a cohesive, emotionally-charged tale of love and loss while navigating difficult choices. Holly Adam's audiobook narration is engaging and her creation of each character is full and specific. Her acting thoroughly brings the characters and narrative to life. Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical fiction look at Queen Maria Carolina of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Maria Carolina is the lesser known sister to Maria Antonia, later known as Marie Antoinette, Queen of France. Diana Giovinazzo constructs a rich and exciting fictional narrative from the known facts of Maria Carolina's life and time period. Narrator Marisa Calin acts the story beautifully. She captures the many accents and rhythms of the large cast of characters, making them all unique and memorable. Highly recommended.
