Historia
Beavers, those icons of industriousness, have been gnawing down trees, building dams, shaping the land, and creating critical habitat in North America for at least a million years. Once one of the continent's most ubiquitous mammals, they ranged from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and from the Rio Grande to the edge of the northern tundra. Wherever there was wood and water, there were beavers - 60 million (or more) - and wherever there were beavers, there were intricate natural communities that depended on their activities.

Understanding beavers and their history.
Revisado: 01-20-24
I enjoyed learning about facts, research, and stories about beavers. The narration was a bit slow.

Important but sad story.
Revisado: 11-15-23
The narration was okay with three different narrators. Listen to a sample if concerned about the first narrator based on other reviews. An important story was told about the injustice and criminal activity toward the Osage community. I learned about the newly formed FBI who played an instrumental role in bringing some justice for the Osage community.

Historia
In this myth-busting book, Daniel Lieberman, professor of human evolutionary biology at Harvard University and a pioneering researcher on the evolution of human physical activity, tells the story of how we never evolved to exercise - to do voluntary physical activity for the sake of health. Using his own research and experiences throughout the world, Lieberman recounts without jargon how and why humans evolved to walk, run, dig, and do other necessary and rewarding physical activities while avoiding needless exertion.

Lots of science presented but in interesting format. A personal touch including author’s and others excise experiences. Making this excise book unique author included studies with the few hunter and gatherer communities still present. Great narration.

Historia
From award-winning writer Leila Philip, Beaverland is a masterful work of narrative science writing, a book that highlights, though history and contemporary storytelling, how this weird rodent plays an oversized role in American history and its future. She follows fur trappers who lead her through waist high water, fur traders and fur auctioneers, as well as wildlife managers, PETA activists, Native American environmental vigilantes, scientists, engineers, and the colorful group of activists known as beaver believers.

Excellent narration. The author’s investigative journalism flourishes in an compelling story. I learned a lot about beavers and the role they played and are playing in history and the environment.

One of the Best Stories ever written!
Revisado: 06-09-23
Hanna Pylväinen tells a story with such depth of intimacy, that I felt a part— feeling the emotions of the moments as the story unfolds. Throughout the story the author weaves in the Sami’s way of life and how the settlers affect the Sami people. The narrator gets a 5 Star rating.
