Everyone knows the story-how Arthur pulled the sword from the stone, how Camelot came to be, and about the power struggles that ultimately destroyed Arthur's dreams. But what of the time before Arthur and the forces that created him?

The Epic BEGINS!!!!
Revisado: 08-30-13
What did you love best about The Skystone?
Whyte starts with Arthurian pre-history, so it does take its time. But you get the feeling he's laying the groundwork for some great characters and plot twists.
What other book might you compare The Skystone to and why?
I've read other Arthurian legends, but none of them starts in the last days of the Roman Empire to set the stage for how Camelot was formed. The anarchy that came after the Romans left Britain must have been terrible.
What does Kevin Pariseau bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He does such great character work. It's like a radio play -- you understand who everyone is.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not really. The sex scenes were interesting...
Any additional comments?
A fun listen. I'm in for the long haul on this one. I hope the story elements pay off!

Historia
Mauritaine was a war hero, a Captain in the Seelie Army. Then he was accused of treason and sentenced to life without parole at Crere Sulace, a dark and ancient prison in the mountains, far from the City Emerald. But now the Seelie Queen - Regina Titania herself - has offered him one last chance to redeem himself, an opportunity to regain his freedom and his honor.

Keep going, Matt Sturges!
Revisado: 07-30-09
Sturges has been writing comic books for a long time now, and this is his first attempt at a novel. It's a quest fantasy novel, but the object of the quest isn't made very clear for a long time, and that's why I'd give the story a C+/B-. It's an interesting world of fairies and humans and there's portals for going from one world to another, so it has all the stuff of good fantasy, but just doesn't completely satisfy. Narration is excellent, I give it an A, making the whole experience about a B. I hope Sturges keeps writing novels, because he is able to make great stories work on the comic book page.

Historia
Six years had passed since the redoubtable knight Sparhawk had triumphed over the evil God Azash and returned to Elenia with Queen Ehlana, his bride. And now a new danger had arisen to threaten the peace of Ehlana's realm. The trouble had started quietly. At home, bandits began to plague the hill country. In neighboring Lamorkand, the customary political unrest turned ominous with whispers that the bloody heroes of old soon would rise again.

A Great Book
Revisado: 05-22-09
Interesting characters, compelling story, great narration. All in all, worth the money. Made my commute go by quickly these past few weeks. A friend recommended this series to me. Had never read any Eddings before, but like fantasy novels. Narrator really makes the story and characters come to life. Looking forward to the next parts. If you like fantasy and lots of characters, this is a good book for you.
