I enjoy this course and find myself going back to listen to certain lecture for a good overview of the content. However, as other reviews have noted the lecturer CONSTANTLY uses the world "obviously", whether making an obvious connection or not. I honestly have to take a break from this course occasionally because it was annoying me so much. Other than that, great course!

I really enjoyed this Dumbledore analysis. I've listened to Lorrie Kim's "Snape" many times and while this book was in a similar format, I appreciate that Khaytman sticks more to canon in his Dumbledore analysis than Kim does in her book. Many theories are dissected and compared in "Dumbledore", from insightful to outlandish, and Khaytman presents each topic from multiple angles. He has a deep knowledge of the HP universe and Rowling's writing style, and uses this as a guide for separating theories that are well-shored by evidence from those that are grasping at straws.

This book is insanely well-researched and cited. Unfortunately this also means there are footnotes everywhere, which are almost all URL references to fan essays, articles, and interviews. The narrator CONSTANTLY reading "Footnote: www dot website dot com dash a dash url dash to dash an dash article dash that dash has dash a dash fifty dash word dash title" was really distracting to me and started to drive me crazy toward the end of the book. Otherwise, a great listen that I'm sure I'll go back to several times to fully digest. But maybe in print form next time...

Lots of insightful content, though I wish the author would have stuck a little bit closer to canon. There are some theories that are grasping at straws a bit too much for me, but it's mostly entertaining. I do find the narrator to be annoying -- as an avid fan of the Jim Dale audiobooks it's pretty cringey to hear an American try to do the character's voices in a British accent. But I've still listened to parts of this book several times.

Great Story, Irritating Narrator

ASoIaF has been one of my favorite book series since I first read it. I have all of the Roy Dotrice audiobooks, and at first I was pretty happy with them. He doesn't have a ton of voices, but he uses a good variety and consistency for the first 2 books. But starting with book 3, he starts switching out accents for certain characters completely, and pronouncing names differently between books. Somtimes Joff-ree is Jeff-ree. Cat-lyn or Cate-lyn. Littlefinger is P-tire for the first 3 books then Peter in the 4th. All the kids suddenly have Irish accents and sound like leprechauns. Overall, Roy's voice is great for narration and I enjoy the way he tells the story most of the time. But with a chapter structure where POV is so important, hearing different accents/names between books is distracting.

Aside from that, one of the greatest fantasy epics of all time, no need to comment there!
