Historia
Danish countess Karen Blixon, known as Isak Dineson, ran a coffee plantation in Kenya in the years when Africa remained a romantic and formidable continent to most Europeans. Out of Africa is her account of her life there, with stories of her respectful relationships with the Masai, Kikuyu, and Somali natives who work on her land; the European friends who visit her; and the imposing permanence of the wild, high land itself.

Heartbreaking Writing, beautiful narration
Revisado: 08-02-18
I loved this book. I did not find the racism many seem to accuse it for.
the author was just accustomed to being treated like that and genuinely cared about natives.
The narration is slow, measured and magical. I tend to speed up slow narrations, but this one I just savoured. Every word and emotion that is bought to life. Highly reccomended

Historia
This hugely engaging story of murder, superstition, religious politics and drama in a medieval monastery was one of the most striking novels to appear in the 1980s. The Name of the Rose is a thrilling story enriched with period detail and laced with tongue-in-cheek allusions to fictional characters, the most striking of which is the Franciscan friar William of Baskerville, who displays many characteristics of Sherlock Holmes.

Narration Makes this book too Good.
Revisado: 06-30-18
Sean Barrett is an amazing Narrator.
I removed so many books from my library after listening to this one because their narrators weren't palatable anymore.
Also, I don't think I could have read this story. it's only in audio form that I can possible consume it.
The story is a bit slower than my taste, but it's so scrumptious.
Many things have been said in Italian. I should have known before buying the unabridged version. However, nicely enough, this makes the experience far richer.
I would reccomend it.

Great crime thriller. Nothing Unusual
Revisado: 05-25-18
It was a nice crime thriller. For a thriller, it is well thought out story with characters you care about. Even not nice ones.
Keeps you guessing and all that. it's nothing in the book that I held a star back for.
it's my personal expectations. I hope to learn something from every new book I read, and this had none to offer except maybe occasional forensics gore .
Nice entertainer though.
