Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

DNF
Revisado: 12-28-22
Too sad for me at this time. Not in the mood to read of violent good for nothing cruel and abusive men, especially when children are involved. Maybe another time I will pick it up again, but for now, it is a No.

So she's a mystery to nearly everyone in her New England town. To her husband, she's a saucy no-B.S. writer. To her Facebook Moms group, she's a provocateur. To her neighbor, she's standoffish.

Still shaking my head
Revisado: 08-11-17
I love Dennis Lehane, at least I have in the past but this book, no. It started off a little slow, then, about a 1/3 way in, I thought there might be some hope, but no, the last 1/3 of this book was seriously the stupidest, most unbelievable , absolute worst stuff I have ever read! I feel bad for the people who gave this book 4 or 5 stars, because they must have never read a good book. Sorry Dennis, your book Mystic River was one great book, as was The Given Day, but this, I can't even believe it flowed from your pen it is so bad.

No good marks from me for this book.
Revisado: 07-25-17
Very disappointed by this book. Of course I hated the ending, who wouldn't?
What really ruined the book for me was Mike Rogers narration. His affectation of the reading was just over the top.
I think in real life Steven Booth must not like women by the way he portrays them in this book.
But then again he also did a pretty good job of making Cooper seem like the dumbest cop who works with the most inept police force ever.

From the internationally acclaimed author of the Harry Hole novels—a fast, tight, darkly lyrical stand-alone novel that has at its center the perfectly sympathetic antihero: an Oslo contract killer who draws us into an unexpected meditation on death and love.

Weak 3 in total
Revisado: 05-22-15
Not up to par for Nesbo. I will give him credit for the unpredictable and poignant ending. Unexpected for a story of a hit man with lots of blood and gore.
I was not at all impressed with the narrator. I am not ever in favor of a female reading an all male role. She was way too deadpan with her reading.

Incredible in that it lacks all credibility. Possibly the most lame book I have read in ages. I used to really like books by Coben. I don't think I will ever read another one.

Here is the astonishing new novel by the Man Booker Prize–winning author of The White Tiger, a book that took rage and anger at injustice and turned it into a thrilling murder story. Now, with the same fearlessness and insight, Aravind Adiga broadens his canvas to give us a riveting story of money and power, luxury and deprivation, set in the booming city of Mumbai.

Last Man in Tower
Revisado: 11-23-11
Powerful story, but I really did not like the narrator chosen for this audio reading. He just seemed too forced and fake, especially in reading the female characters. I found it very annoying. A major distraction to the story, overall. He barely sounds Indian. A narrator can make or break an audio book for me. This is one book that I would have much preferred reading the actual book. The narrator fo White Tiger was much more convincing.

Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

Fall of Giants - Almost a 5
Revisado: 06-05-11
Overall, Fall of Giants is a very good read. On a par with Pillars of the Earth and far outshines his last book, World Without End. Fall of Giants has a few problems that better editing would have picked up, but they are minor. The book could have stood out on it's own with out some of the sex scenes. Follet is such a good story teller, I don't see why he needs to cheapen his book with this drivel. I am not opposed to sexual content in a book, but when you have a 1000 page historical fiction book that is great on it's own, you just don't need lines such as this one: "Walter toyed with her pubic hair, it was long, black, and curly. Maude offered to cut it for him, but he told her no, he liked it." (probably not an exact quote but very close) Seriously Mr. Follett? This is spoken in the middle of a discussion of the proposed peace treaty at the end of the war. It made me guffaw, so Harlequin Romance! That being said, the book was really worth the time to read which is why I gave it a 4 star rating.

Little Giant of Aberdeen County
Revisado: 07-19-09
This book had a lot of potential, but did not quite make it. The book was so annoying to listen to, I can't believe I kept listening until the end. The story is so weak and full of holes.
Plus, I am always bothered by narratives that give detailed accounts of conversation, emotions, and events when the speaker was not on the scene and does not have any first hand knowledge, or even hearsay, about which they are speaking.
