My adult daughter who read “Old Enough” over the summer subtly asked me to read or listen. So much of Savannah’s challenging, often heartbreaking journey of healing mirrors my daughter’s to the extent that she (my daughter) called me three years after her rape. It still breaks my heart for her that she wasn’t able to make that call for so long. The assault she endured was almost exactly the same circumstances as well. This book isn’t just for survivors and those discovering who they are, but for parents like me. This book was a vehicle in which my daughter was able to truly tell me her story with such rawness and truth. Many thanks to Haley for having the courage to write “Old Enough” and for helping survivors and people who love these survivors.

This is one of my favorite listens. Elizabeth Zott is uncompromising and knows who she is. We need more Elizabeth Zotts in the world. No doubt, I will listen again.

This is a beautifully crafted story that encompasses poverty, addiction, unconditional love for a parent and hope.

I’m so thrilled that Chris shared her amazing adventure with Marty skiing, unsupported in Antarctica. Meeting on Denali was the beginning of this couple’s dedication and discipline in living life to the fullest. There is no doubt that Chris and Marty, while spending time training and constantly challenging their bodies, love their son and place their family as a priority. They are truly amazing human beings. I like that Chris shares their vulnerable moments (never weak moments in my book) with us. As Chris describes, even though she and Marty are pushing their bodies and minds to the max, they need their community of supporters to help them complete their goal to ski to the pole. I also like that the listener/reader never is made to feel less than Chris and Marty. I applaud Chris for her honesty and strength. While listening, I got choked up several times and loved, in a small way, sharing The Expedition with The Fagans!

Bryan Stevenson’s journey thus far has opened my eyes to the sickening problems in our judicial system. As I’m about to completely give up hope, I am reminded by the work he and those at EJI do. We need about a million Bryans!
